(AG Provincial E-Portal) -On April 1st, Mr. Ho Van Mung, Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, chaired a meeting to receive a report on the work of establishing a zoning plan for land reclamation areas.

At the meeting, the consulting unit presented the work on preparing the zoning plans for the reclaimed land areas. With the concept of a multi-destination coastal corridor: Sea – Mountains – Heritage – Rivers – Coastal City, the land reclamation project across An Giang province has a total planned scale of 4,500 hectares with 4 island clusters, including: Phu Quoc – Tho Chau cluster (2,300 ha); Ha Tien – Kien Luong – Tien Hai cluster (900 ha); Rach Gia – An Bien – Hon Dat – An Minh cluster (1,100 ha); and Kien Hai islands cluster (200 ha).

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Ho Van Mung, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, directed the Department of Finance to take the lead in coordinating with the Department of Construction to establish a Steering Committee for the implementation of the provincial planning, and to form working groups to implement various types of planning, including the zoning plan for land reclamation areas. Regarding the implementation of land reclamation projects, the Department of Construction and the consulting unit should incorporate feedback, supplement technical solutions, and complete the zoning plan for land reclamation to ensure synchronized implementation.
The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested that the zoning plans for reclaimed land areas must be consistent with both the provincial plan and the general plans of the localities. Attention should be paid to the population size in the reclaimed land zones, and for locations with residential land plans, the social infrastructure must be synchronized.

Mr. Ho Van Mung, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, emphasized that the zoning plan for reclaimed land areas must meet green criteria (green economy, green transportation, green infrastructure, green construction projects); avoid the use of machinery and vehicles using fossil fuels; prioritize the use of renewable energy, and research and attract investment in wind power for both commercial and electricity supply in reclaimed land areas; pay attention to wastewater treatment; and attract strategic investors, etc.

Mr. Ho Van Mung, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, assigned the Department of Construction to take the lead in coordinating with the Department of Finance and the Department of Agriculture and Environment to develop a plan with specific task assignments for each sector, to be completed in April. The Department of Agriculture and Environment will coordinate with local authorities to closely manage aquaculture activities in the areas planned for land reclamation…/.
