(AG Provincial E-Portal) - On the afternoon of February 23, Comrade Ho Van Mung, a member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, and Chairman of An Giang Provincial People's Committee, led a delegation to visit Cham Tree Agricultural Cooperative (Vinh Te ward) and Chau Phu B Agricultural Cooperative (Chau Doc ward).

An Giang Provincial People's Committee Chairman Ho Van Mung spoke during his visit to Cham Tree Agricultural Cooperative and Chau Phu B Agricultural Cooperative

During the visit, An Giang Provincial People's Committee Chairman Ho Van Mung said that in 2026, An Giang aims for 10.71% economic growth. Agriculture, forestry, and fisheries play a crucial role, despite growth challenges. The sector accounts for 33% of the province's GRDP, while industry is under 20%.

An Giang Provincial People's Committee Chairman Ho Van Mung praised the cooperatives for maintaining profits and member income. He suggested they leverage the Party and state's policies on collective economy development to boost growth, contribute to the province's development, and increase member income.

The Chairman suggested the cooperatives set goals based on the province, local, and agricultural sector's targets. The executive boards of the cooperatives should improve governance, shift from traditional management to business-like governance, and be proactive in calculating agricultural economics for maximum revenue and profit.

He also urged them to apply science and technology to cut production costs and boost member income, effectively implementing the Plan for 1 million hectares of high-quality rice with the "3 reductions, 3 increases" criteria. The cooperatives should proactively seek partnerships with businesses, banks, and scientific institutions for production and consumption.

To address challenges and support cooperative growth, An Giang Provincial People's Committee Chairman Ho Van Mung suggested the Department of Agriculture and Environment lead a conference with the Cooperative Alliance, Farmers' Association, and relevant agencies to promote cooperatives, connect with businesses, facilitate networking, explore opportunities, and sign deals. He also asked the Department of Industry and Trade to research suitable electricity pricing for agriculture.
