Difficulties don't hinder, but drive us to strive forward

In the days leading up to the Tet Bính Ngọ 2026 Lunar New Year, visiting the border commune of Khánh Bình, you willl sense significant changes. A revitalized atmosphere and renewed confidence are spreading everywhere - from newly completed projects and roads, to many new and spacious houses, and a bustling border market...

The local Party Committee, government, and people, with their spirit of unity and relentless effort, are overcoming difficulties and striving for development. These changes not only bring prosperity to the people but also clearly demonstrate the commendable achievements of the border commune.

Khanh Binh commune was merged from Khanh Binh and Khanh An communes and Long Binh town. After the merger, the political system has been gradually consolidated and operates stably; the team of cadres and party members basically meets the requirements of tasks in the new situation.

According to Comrade Doan Binh Lam, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the People's Council of Khanh Binh commune, in the process of leadership and management, the Standing Party Committee has clearly defined: " Khanh Binh is a border commune, a starting point with many difficulties, but we determine that initial difficulties are not obstacles, but rather a driving force for the locality to innovate thinking, promote potential and advantages, and strive for rapid and sustainable development.”

The commune's Party Committee always prioritizes Party building, especially political and ideological work; regularly innovates the content and methods of propaganda and mobilization to suit local realities. The implementation of Directive No. 05-CT/TW of the Politburo is closely linked to the locality's political tasks, contributing to enhancing the sense of responsibility and self-discipline of cadres and party members, especially those in leadership positions.

Social opinion orientation work is proactively implemented, timely grasping people's thoughts and aspirations, especially regarding major policies related to organizational restructuring. After restructuring, the machinery of Khánh Bình commune's political system has gradually operated stably, administrative discipline has been strengthened, and the spirit of unity has been increasingly consolidated.

Agriculture is the backbone, increasing added value. According to Khanh Binh Commune People's Committee, the commune has 1,088.4 hectares of agricultural land, of which fruit trees occupy 1,000.9 hectares, mainly keo mango - the local main crop with high economic value, which has been strongly converted in recent times. In 2025, the total food production (corn and rice) reached 1,293 tons; total fruit production reached 27,766.8 tons. Specifically, keo mango was harvested on 1,846 hectares (2 crops/year), with an average yield of 15 tons/hectare, selling price ranging from 7,000 - 16,000 VND/kg, estimated production reached 27,690 tons, achieving 93.11% of the plan.

High-tech agricultural models continue to be maintained and replicated with 15 models, 3 cooperatives, 2 collaborative groups, and 1 sewing trade group, contributing to increased income and stable livelihood for people. The "One Village, One Product" (OCOP) program has achieved positive results with 4 maintained products, notably the keo mango product of Long Binh Agricultural Cooperative, which has been exported to 5 countries, affirming the local agricultural brand. Efforts to assign codes to growing areas have been prioritized with 17 codes, covering 569.4 hectares, laying an important foundation for sustainable consumption and export linkages…

Rural development has been focused on, with many rural roads and irrigation projects invested and upgraded, facilitating production and people's lives. The average income per capita reached 76.5 million VND/person/year.

Breakthroughs from border gates and transportation infrastructure

One of Khanh Binh's notable achievements in 2025 is the proactive proposal to open the Khanh An Sub-Border Gate and upgrade the Khánh Bình National Border Gate to an international border gate, opening up new development space for border economy,  trade-service.

Simultaneously, the province has implemented research and investment in inter-regional transportation systems, particularly the route connecting the Chau Doc - Can Tho - Soc Trang highway to the border gate, and inter-border gate transportation, creating a strong impetus for logistics development, warehouses, commercial services, and investment attraction. "When key transportation projects are implemented, Khanh Binh will become a strategic trade gateway for the province, effectively connecting the Mekong Delta region and Cambodia," emphasized Comrade Đoan Binh Lam.

Aiming towards a dynamic border city

According to Comrade Tạ Văn Khương, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the People's Committee of Khánh Bình commune, the socio-economic situation of Khánh Bình commune in 2025 continued to develop, with indicators ensuring progress according to the planned targets. Social welfare and care for people with merits were implemented in a timely manner; political security, social order and safety, and border security were maintained. The average income per capita reached 76.5 million VND/person/year, and the poverty rate decreased to 1.65%.

Khanh Binh is no longer a remote border commune, but has become an important trade gateway for national defense, security, and border economy. The local Party committee, government, and people are delighted that the Provincial People's Committee has requested departments to finalize the feasibility study report for the project connecting the Chau Doc - Soc Trang - Can Tho highway to the Khanh Binh National Border Gate. Once implemented, the upgraded transportation system will facilitate socio-economic development.

Meanwhile, the Long Bình - Chrey Thom Bridge continues to assert its role as an economic "lifeline", the shortest route connecting Phnom Penh (Kingdom of Cambodia) with Vietnam. With tourism development potential, the commune has proposed and been surveyed for investment in eco-tourism development at Bung Binh Thien (Nuoc Troi Lake-lake from the sky) and Giong Cay Da (Or Giong Cay Da or Cay Sung Reo by local people), laying the groundwork for distinctive border and riverine tourism.

"Rural transportation infrastructure has been paved and concreted to new rural standards, allowing trucks to easily access the fields to purchase agricultural products.
