(AG Provincial E-Portal) - On the afternoon of April 8th, in Oc Eo commune, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Van Phuoc chaired a working session with the Steering Board for the third nomination of the Oc Eo Archaeological Site and a working session with the delegation of provincial leaders participating in the 224th session of the UNESCO Executive Board in the Republic of France.

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Van Phuoc and his team conduct a field survey at Linh Son Bac and Sau Thuan areas, which are locations within the Oc Eo - Ba The archaeological site complex.

Speaking at the meeting, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Van Phuoc emphasized that the workload remains very large while time is running out, and the preparation of the dossier requires seamless coordination and the highest sense of responsibility from all members of the Steering Board.
Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Van Phuoc requested the Oc Eo Cultural Relic Management Board (the standing agency) to be fully aware of the work of the Executive Board, and to update information and report weekly through the operational groups in order to promptly address any difficulties. He also emphasized the importance of proactively providing information and avoiding any lack of information or delays in handling tasks.

Regarding construction investment projects, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested that contractors and related units strictly adhere to the committed timelines, mobilizing manpower to work day and night to ensure the progress and quality of the projects. Units must actively support each other, and any obstacles must be reported immediately for resolution, so as not to affect the overall schedule.
According to Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Van Phuoc, communication is considered particularly important to ensure that people understand and trust the information, especially households with land or property in the heritage area; the content of the communication must be "easy to understand, concise, and easy to remember," creating high consensus; and the actual impact on community awareness must be assessed.
In addition, the Oc Eo Cultural Relic Management Board continues to work closely with the Department of Tourism, the Provincial Police, the People's Committee of Oc Eo Commune, the People's Committee of My Thuan Commune, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, consulting experts, and members of the Executive Board to urgently develop a detailed plan to organize the reception and work with UNESCO experts, ensuring a thoughtful, dignified, effective, and safe event, demonstrating a high sense of responsibility and cooperation.

According to a report from the Oc Eo Cultural Relics Management Board, the nomination dossier for the Oc Eo - Ba The Archaeological Site has been officially submitted to UNESCO through the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. To date, the dossier has been received and forwarded to the international advisory body ICOMOS for evaluation according to provided procedures.
Based on feedback from domestic and international experts, the dossier continues to be reviewed and supplemented according to UNESCO's requirements, focusing on completing the system of maps, current state images, and related scientific content. The province is actively implementing a plan to mobilize social resources to contribute to the World Heritage Fund.

Currently, 12 projects and works serving the UNESCO expert survey team are being urgently implemented, focusing on restoring and preserving historical sites, improving the landscape, installing audio-visual systems, and enhancing conservation conditions.
Regarding the implementation plan for 2026, 5 out of 15 key tasks have been completed. The remaining tasks are being implemented synchronously, especially the work of publicizing information, consulting with the community, preparing to welcome the international assessment team, and developing a diplomatic lobbying plan for the nomination dossier.
The Vietnam National UNESCO Committee has officially invited An Giang province to participate in the Vietnamese delegation attending the 224th session of the UNESCO Executive Board in Paris, France. The committee has drafted a plan, sought feedback from the Department of Finance, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and submitted it to the Provincial People's Committee for approval and to send officials and staff to the overseas trip.
