Speaking at the meeting, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man extended his warmest regards, well-wishes, and congratulations to the provincial leadership, policy-beneficiary families, people with meritorious service, workers, laborers, and the people of An Giang Province.

National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man acknowledged and highly commended An Giang's outstanding achievements in socio-economic development, ensuring national defence and security, building the political system, and effectively implementing social welfare work. In particular, the province has launched many practical movements to care for policy-beneficiary families, poor households, and labourers; performed well in foreign affairs, firmly safeguarded national defence and security in border areas, seas, and islands, and strengthened cooperation with neighbouring Cambodia.

The National Assembly Chairman highly appreciated An Giang's 7.8% growth rate in 2025 - the highest in the Mekong Delta region. Entering 2026, the central government has assigned the province a target growth rate of 10.71%. This is not only a development indicator but also a significant political resolve of the province. As An Giang is a large-scale locality playing an important role in the region, the province's development will make a practical contribution to the nation's overall growth.

National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man requested that the province focus on thorough preparations for major events in 2027, particularly key projects and works in Phu Quoc, creating a strong driving force for Phu Quoc to become a regional hub for tourism, investment, and integration. Highly appreciating that preparations for APEC 2027 have largely kept pace with schedule, the National Assembly Chairman called for continued efforts to prepare the necessary conditions and infrastructure to host an event of international stature in the spirit of "if it has been done well, do it even better," thereby enhancing the prestige and standing of Vietnam in general and An Giang province in particular.

The National Assembly Chairman urged An Giang to continue effectively implementing national target programmes on building new-style rural areas, sustainable poverty reduction, and the development of ethnic minority regions; to give due attention to education and training, science and technology, and healthcare for the people - especially the policy of regular health check-ups for citizens; and at the same time to strengthen the fight against cross-border crime, drug-related crime, and high-tech crime, while ensuring social order and safety.

Reporting on the socio-economic situation and the work of caring for policy-beneficiary families, people with meritorious service, workers, and labourers in the province, Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, and Chairman of the An Giang Provincial People's Committee Ho Van Mung said that the province's GRDP growth in the first quarter of 2026 was estimated at 7.8% (ranking first in the Mekong Delta region and 25th out of 34 localities nationwide).

Total state budget revenue in the first quarter reached 8,682 billion VND, equivalent to 26.8% of the estimate and 103.2% of the revenue scenario. Agricultural, forestry, and fishery production remained stable. Industrial and construction production continued to grow. Import-export activities posted positive growth, and tourism saw strong expansion. Notably, preparations for hosting APEC 2027 in the Phu Quoc Special Zone have been carried out resolutely and synchronously, in close alignment with central government directives.

Chairman of the An Giang Provincial People's Committee Ho Van Mung affirmed that social welfare for policy beneficiaries, poor households, and people in difficult circumstances has always been given close attention by the province in terms of leadership and implementation. The province has organised the distribution of Tet gifts to 261,609 people, with a total budget of over 192 billion VND. The province has also completed the elimination of 8,426 temporary and dilapidated houses for families of people with meritorious service, poor households, and near-poor households.

As part of the programme, the working delegation presented 200 gift packages to policy-beneficiary families, workers, and labourers in difficult circumstances in Rach Gia Ward, Vinh Thong Ward, Binh An Commune, and Chau Thanh Commune./.
