An Giang: Total tourism revenue exceeds 27.888 trillion VND

(An Giang E- Portal)-According to the An Giang Department of Tourism, in the first 4 months of 2026, the province is estimated to have welcomed more than 10.8 million tourist arrivals for sightseeing and travel, up 14.1% year-on-year and reaching 43.3% of the annual target. This includes over 1 million international visitors, up 58.8%. Total tourism revenue is estimated at more than VND 27.888 trillion, up 46.4%.

Surpassing initial expectations, An Giang tourism saw breakthrough growth in the early months of 2026 on the tourism map of the "Nine Dragons" region. Accordingly, events and festivals attracted large numbers of domestic and international tourists, such as: New Year's Day 2026, the traditional Bính Ngọ Lunar New Year 2026, Tao Đàn Chiêu Anh Các Festival (Hà Tiên)... Destinations like Núi Sam National Tourist Area, Núi Cấm Tourist Area, Trà Sư Cajuput Forest, Phú Quốc Island, Hòn Sơn, Nam Du, Tiên Hải islands, and landmarks in Rạch Giá and Hà Tiên... attracted many visitors for sightseeing and travel.

The appeal of An Giang tourism is the intersection of natural landscapes and unique cultural festivals, along with quality and safe tourism products and services. The entire province currently has 1,144 accommodation facilities with more than 39,150 rooms to meet diverse lodging needs from upscale to budget.

Especially the Phú Quốc special zone, which stands out with pristine beaches, a rich marine ecosystem, and a series of modern resorts and entertainment complexes. This is a destination that brings together both pristine nature and high-end services, meeting the diverse needs of tourists.

Besides that, Phú Quốc Prison is a special national historical relic, recreating the "hell on earth" during the war and helping visitors better understand the sacrifice and resilient spirit of the Vietnamese people. Hàm Ninh and Rạch Vẹm fishing villages let tourists experience fishermen’s lives and enjoy fresh seafood. Hộ Quốc Pagoda and Dinh Cậu — prominent spiritual destinations rich in local cultural identity…

Next, An Giang is ramping up the use of technology to enhance visitor experiences. The province has launched an integrated website system featuring virtual reality spaces, an online ticketing system, and a mobile app to promote its tourism image. In particular, the deployment of AI cameras for entry/exit control at tourist areas marks a new step forward in modern management and security assurance.

Ahead of the Hùng Kings Commemoration Day (10th day of the 3rd lunar month) and the April 30 – May 1 holiday, An Giang’s tourism sector is preparing to welcome visitors for sightseeing and travel. Mr. Nguyen Thanh Quoc, Deputy Director of the An Giang Department of Tourism, said the Department has directed local businesses to strictly comply with regulations and ensure the quality of services and products to best serve tourists during the holiday.

At the same time, the tourism sector is coordinating with relevant agencies and local authorities in key tourist areas to strengthen regular inspections and monitoring to ensure safety and strictly handle violations. Routes to An Giang will see enhanced traffic control to ensure smooth flow. The province continues to appraise and rank accommodation facilities, issue tour guide licenses, and organize professional training courses to continuously improve the professionalism of the tourism workforce.

Accordingly, this year the Hùng Kings Commemoration Day and the April 30 – May 1 holiday fall consecutively, making it one of the longest holidays of the year, with tourist numbers expected to surge. An Giang has prepared many exciting activities to welcome tourists, highlighting spiritual and eco-tourism sites in the Thất Sơn region, Trà Sư Cajuput Forest, island and marine eco-tourism in the Southwest sea area, and the Hà Tiên coastal area…

According to Sun Phú Quốc Airways Company Limited, during the two holiday periods of Hùng Kings Commemoration Day (10th day of the 3rd lunar month) and Victory Day April 30 / International Labor Day May 1, flight volume and passenger traffic through Phú Quốc International Airport are forecast to increase by about 32% and 44%, respectively, compared to the same period last year. The total number of flights serving this year’s holidays will increase to an average of about 118 flights/day, with peak days reaching up to 130 flights/day. Passenger volume is forecast to reach 22,000 passengers, with peak traffic concentrated on routes from Tân Sơn Nhất (Hồ Chí Minh City), Nội Bài, and Đà Nẵng.(Hà Nội)

Phú Quốc International Airport has reviewed all operational plans for peak periods by time slot and reinforced staffing at key positions such as: security screening areas, check-in counters, baggage carousels, and aircraft parking aprons. Coordination between the airport, airlines, and on-site agencies such as the Border Gate Police, Phú Quốc International Customs, Phú Quốc Airport Authority, and the Air Traffic Control Tower... has been tightened to minimize local congestion during peak hours.

In addition to operational plans, airport infrastructure has also been promptly upgraded. On April 16, 2026, Apron 1C under the Phú Quốc International Airport expansion project was officially put into operation after three months of construction, adding 5 more parking stands and ready for the peak season.

Phú Quốc International Airport has also adopted an off-airport check-in model at hotels within Sun Group’s ecosystem — La Festa Phu Quoc, Curio Collection by Hilton and New World Phu Quoc Resort — starting April 17. Under this model, passengers can complete check-in and receive boarding passes before heading to the airport. Checked baggage is accepted at the hotel and transported directly to the airport for standard screening procedures.

In the initial phase, the service applies to Sun Phu Quoc Airways passengers. Notably, guests staying in the Sunset Town and Khem Beach areas can also use the service. The model is expected to expand in the near future and will especially help ease airport congestion during the holiday.

At the same time, technology solutions continue to be effectively implemented. The Wi-Fi system covers the entire terminal, flight information display screens have been upgraded, and 4G/5G telecommunications infrastructure has been strengthened. The application of biometrics in check-in procedures also helps shorten processing times for passengers. Automatic non-stop toll collection at airport entry and exit points further helps reduce traffic pressure during peak hours.

The addition of measures to maintain stable operations under peak pressure demonstrates the operational capacity for the new phase leading up to APEC 2027, when an estimated 10,000 - 12,000 senior leaders from various countries and top global enterprises are expected to gather on Phú Quốc, the "Pearl Island".

Since early 2026, Sun Group has officially taken over operations and invested in upgrading and expanding Phú Quốc International Airport to increase its service capacity to 24 million passengers per year, with the potential to expand to 50 million passengers in the long term. Phú Quốc International Airport aims to become a “destination airport” model following the standards of Changi — “World’s Best Airport” for 13 consecutive years — where the passenger experience is designed seamlessly from the moment they arrive./.
