(AG Provincial E-Portal) - On May 11, Mr. Ho Van Mung, Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, inspected the construction site and urged contractors to accelerate the progress of Component Project 1 under the Chau Doc – Can Tho – Soc Trang Expressway Project, Phase 1.

According to the Provincial Project Management Board, Component Project 1 under the Investment Project to Build the Chau Doc – Can Tho – Soc Trang Expressway, Phase 1, has a total length of over 57 km (with the section through An Giang stretching over 56 km), a scale of 4 lanes, and a road surface width of 16 m.
The entire route includes 33 bridges, 2 pedestrian underpasses, 103 cross-road culvert positions, 5 interchanges, and 1 rest stop, among others. The total investment exceeds VND 13,526 billion.

To date, the total output progress of the four main construction bid packages has reached 75.19%, exceeding the contract value by 0.20%, corresponding to an output value of approximately VND 6,309 billion. Many items, including bridges, culverts, road foundations, and median strips, are being deployed simultaneously. In particular, all 282 bridge deck slabs along the route have been completed; the installation of prefabricated vertical drains has reached 100%; and the volume of sand surcharge filling along the route has reached 95%, among other achievements.

During the inspection, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ho Van Mung acknowledged and commended the efforts of the construction units, particularly Truong Son Construction Corporation (Bid Package No. 42) and Thanh Huy Group Joint Stock Company (Bid Package No. 44), which have concentrated manpower and equipment and organized construction ahead of the set schedule.
Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ho Van Mung emphasized that contractors must ensure both progress and quality of the works in parallel, striving to complete the project before June 30. During construction, units must pay special attention to controlling technical quality, carrying out construction in accordance with regulations, and ensuring that the works meet the established requirements.
The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee paid particular attention to the locations of bridges, culverts, and the joints between items, calling on the investor and contractors to focus on close inspection and supervision. With regard to sections where subsidence is occurring, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested that the investor and contractors closely coordinate with the State Acceptance Council to handle them in accordance with expert opinions, ensuring the long-term safety and quality of the works.

The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee assigned the Department of Agriculture and Environment to coordinate with the police force in urgently inspecting the licensed sand quarries and reviewing the extraction, transportation, and supply of materials. The management of sand and stone must be closely supervised, with clear identification of supply sources, ensuring there is no loss or misuse.
As materials have already been sufficiently secured for the main expressway route, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee called for the continued rational allocation of materials to auxiliary items such as rest stops, interchanges, and connecting roads in accordance with actual demand and under strict supervision.
The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also requested the investor to work with the State Acceptance Council to develop a plan to put into operation the section from the Route 943 interchange to the starting point of the project, in order to ease the burden on National Highway 91 and serve the travel needs of the people by the end of 2026.
During construction, in order to ensure progress and the disbursement of public investment capital, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee asked the units to simultaneously and synchronously deploy auxiliary items such as median strips, traffic signs, and traffic safety systems, among others. At the same time, priority should be given to early implementation of the rest stop and to continuing to finalize investment procedures for connecting roads and interchanges in accordance with the capital allocation plans of the central and local authorities.

On this occasion, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ho Van Mung presented gifts to the construction units to encourage their working spirit and to spur emulation in accelerating the progress of the project./.
