(AG Provincial E-Portal) - On May 5, the Provincial People's Committee held a Press Conference on the socio-economic development situation in the first four months of 2026 and the Conference to Announce the Master Plan and Investment Promotion of An Giang Province.
The Press Conference was chaired by Mr. Ho Van Mung, Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Mr. Nguyen Thanh Phong, Member of the Standing Board of the Provincial Party Committee and Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; and Mr. Le Trung Ho, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee.


Speaking at the Press Conference, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ho Van Mung acknowledged and highly appreciated the companionship of central and local press agencies in the socio-economic development of An Giang Province. In a spirit of constructive engagement and feedback, the press not only promptly provides information on the socio-economic situation and disseminates the guidelines and policies of the Party and the laws of the State, but also serves as an important information channel through which provincial leaders can listen to feedback, the aspirations of the people, and complex issues in order to provide timely direction and management.
To achieve the economic growth target of 10.71% in 2026, the province has set out specific targets and solutions for each sector. Based on the implementation results of the first quarter, the Provincial People's Committee has proactively adjusted the growth scenario for the second quarter and the remaining months of 2026.
Regarding the adjustment of the An Giang Provincial Master Plan for the 2021–2030 period, with a vision to 2025, An Giang Province has set the goal of developing the province into a strong national marine economic center; while also developing the low-altitude economy, focusing on services and agriculture. The provincial master plan is closely linked with the development strategy of the Mekong Delta, Ho Chi Minh City, and Cambodia in terms of tourism, processing industry, transportation, and other fields.
Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ho Van Mung added that the Conference to Announce the Master Plan and Investment Promotion of An Giang Province carries the message "An Giang – New Space, New Vision, New Success," reflecting the companionship between the government and businesses.
In the coming time, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ho Van Mung expressed his hope that press agencies will continue to accompany the province in communication work, contributing to powerfully spreading the potential, strengths, and development opportunities of the locality to investors and friends both at home and abroad.

At the Press Conference, the An Giang Provincial People's Committee stated that from the very beginning of 2026, the Provincial People's Committee has focused on implementing the Resolutions of the 14th National Party Congress and the Resolution of the 1st Congress of the An Giang Provincial Party Committee for the 2025–2030 term, with the aim of achieving the established objectives and tasks, particularly the growth target of over 10%.
The Provincial People's Committee has issued 24 schemes and programs to implement the Resolution of the 14th National Party Congress and the Resolution of the 1st Provincial Party Congress; issued plans and decisions assigning socio-economic development tasks for 2026 to departments, agencies, sectors, and localities under the "6 Clears" motto; consolidated the Working Groups directing economic growth; and established 4 Working Groups to promote the disbursement of public investment capital.
In the first quarter of 2026, the GRDP growth of An Giang Province reached 7.8%, ranking first in the Mekong Delta region and 25th out of 34 provinces and centrally-run cities. Activities at the border gates were strictly managed and trade was stable; total import-export turnover at the border gates reached approximately USD 107 million (up 20%), of which exports were USD 62 million (up 9%) and imports were USD 45 million (up 40%).
The industrial parks and border-gate economic zones currently have 66 active projects (including 10 FDI projects), with total registered capital of approximately VND 13,420 billion and a leased land area of 218 hectares; creating jobs for around 37,026 workers.



Master planning and urban development work has been actively implemented; the adjusted master plan of An Giang Province for the 2021–2030 period, with a vision to 2025, has been approved. Tourism grew strongly, welcoming 10.81 million visitor arrivals (up 14.1%), of which international visitors numbered 1.02 million (up 58.8%); total revenue reached VND 27,888 billion (up 46.4%).
The Provincial People's Committee announced that the Conference to Announce the Master Plan and Investment Promotion is scheduled to be held on May 17 at the Sun Signature Gallery Hall in Phu Quoc (Mediterranean Area, An Thoi, Phu Quoc). The conference will be broadcast live on An Giang Television (ATV), with approximately 400–500 delegates attending in person.
The conference program is expected to include the following main contents: welcoming performances; screening of the video clip announcing the Provincial Master Plan, combined with promoting the potential and orientation for investment in An Giang Province; opening remarks; presentations by strategic investors and international organizations; the awarding of Decisions on approval of investment policy and Investment Registration Certificates; the signing of Memoranda of Understanding on investment research and survey cooperation; the launch of the An Giang Investment Support Board; directional remarks from leaders of the Party and the State; and closing remarks to conclude the Conference.
The Provincial People's Committee is actively and urgently preparing the contents and necessary conditions to ensure that the Conference is organized thoroughly and effectively, in line with the requirements and plans set forth. /.
