(AG Provincial E-Portal) - On the morning of May 5, Mr. Ho Van Mung, Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party (alternate member), Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, and Chairman of An Giang People's Committee, presided over a meeting with the provincial leaders and heads of departments and agencies. The meeting was also attended by Mr. Le Van Phuoc and Ms. Nguyen Thi Minh Thuy, Vice Chairpersons of An Giang People's Committee.



Concluding the meeting, Chairman Ho Van Mung acknowledged and commended the agencies and units for their effective advisory role and implementation of assigned tasks. Recently, along with the entire country, the province successfully organized various events to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025), as well as International Workers’ Day (May 1). These activities carried significant meaning and sparked a renewed momentum in the socio-economic development of the province, particularly in preparations for the merger of An Giang and Kien Giang provinces.
Despite the large scale of activities and events, security issues, political stability, and social order in the province have been maintained, with a decrease in the number of traffic accidents compared to the same period last year. Recently, the province has focused on administrative unit restructuring at the commune level and gathering voter opinions through the Provincial People's Council regarding the merger of 155 commune-level administrative units in accordance with regulations. At the same time, the province has cooperated with Kien Giang to finalize the proposal for merging An Giang and Kien Giang for submission to the Central Government.
Chairman Ho Van Mung requested that the heads of departments and agencies continue to enhance their sense of responsibility, supervise, urge, and remind about the progress of the assigned tasks. Regarding the commune-level administrative unit restructuring, he asked the Department of Home Affairs to collaborate and advise the People's Committee on the operation of local government organizations according to Central Government guidelines and regulations. The Department of Finance was tasked with working with localities on management and restructuring proposals for public offices and assets, and to report to the People's Committee by May 10.
The Department of Education and Training was instructed to coordinate with other agencies and localities to prepare for the upcoming high school graduation exam and to guide the 12th-grade students on effective revision. The Department of Health was urged to intensify its disease prevention and control efforts, particularly for dengue fever, and to collaborate with localities to raise public awareness about disease prevention. The An Giang Cultural Relics Management Board was tasked with providing weekly reports to the Provincial People's Committee on the progress of the dossier to nominate the Oc Eo - Ba The archaeological site for UNESCO World Heritage recognition. The Department of Science and Technology was asked to review and advise the People's Committee on preparations for the launch of the “People's Digital Education Movement” and the introduction of an app to support lifelong learning in An Giang, to celebrate the 135th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birth (May 19, 1890 - May 19, 2025).
Chairman Ho Van Mung also requested that the Department of Construction cooperate with the Provincial Project Management Board and localities to propose projects for groundbreaking ceremonies to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification, as well as the 135th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birth. The Provincial Traffic Safety Committee was instructed to work with departments, agencies, and localities to increase awareness campaigns, handle black spots, and ensure traffic safety. The Provincial Police were asked to continue increasing patrols, inspections, and strictly handle violations related to traffic safety.
