(AG Provincial E-Portal) -On March 19th, Ms. Pham Thi Thanh Tra, Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party and Deputy Prime Minister of the Government, attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the Ba Chuc Primary and Secondary Boarding School (Ba Chuc commune, An Giang province).

Also attending were Mr. Dang Xuan Phong, Member of the Central Executive Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam and Permanent Deputy Head of the Government Office; Ms. Nguyen Thi Quyen Thanh, Deputy Minister of Education and Training; Senior Lieutenant General Pham Truong Son, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army; and representatives of leaders from departments and bureaus under central ministries and agencies.

Ba Chuc Primary and Secondary Boarding School is being built on an area of approximately 44,433 m2; with a planned investment of 45 classrooms (13 primary school classes and 32 secondary school classes); accommodating 1,500 students, including 300 boarding students.

The project involves the construction of new buildings such as: a block of 46 classrooms and department office, staff housing, male and female dormitories, a multi-purpose hall, a cafeteria, a parking garage, a wastewater treatment area, a fire protection system, outdoor lighting, and a telecommunications system. In addition, existing structures such as the administrative block, library, classroom block, outdoor stage, and restrooms will be renovated. The total estimated investment is nearly 190 billion VND, the construction is expected to be completed in August 2027.

In addition to the Ba Chuc Primary and Secondary Boarding School, An Giang province also simultaneously commenced construction on two other projects: the Vinh Dieu Primary and Secondary Boarding School and the Vinh Xuong Primary and Secondary Boarding School.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thi Minh Thuy emphasized that An Giang province considers the investment in building multi-level boarding schools in land border communes, in accordance with Conclusion Notice No. 81 of the Politburo, as a key and urgent political task with long-term strategic significance in socio-economic development, implementing ethnic policies, raising the intellectual level of the people, training local human resources, creating a source of local cadres, and contributing to maintaining national defense and security in the border region.

Following the directives of the Central Government, on November 9, 2025, along with other localities nationwide, An Giang province simultaneously commenced construction on three multi-level boarding school projects in border communes: Vinh Gia, Giang Thanh, and Khanh Binh. To date, the projects have commenced construction and achieved over 50% progress, with good quality, ensuring completion before August 30, 2026, and operation for the 2026-2027 school year.

Besides constructing the projects, the province is also proactively preparing and ensuring the conditions for putting the projects into operation immediately after the construction is completed, before the start of the new school year. This includes preparing the organizational structure, curriculum, operating budget, and other necessary conditions as prescribed.

According to Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thi Minh Thuy, in the next phase, An Giang province will implement the construction of six schools in the remaining six land border communes. The locality will continue to fully implement the central government's directive on investing in the construction of multi-level boarding schools in land border communes with the motto of "urgent - decisive - certain - effective" implementation, ensuring adherence to the six clear principles.

Accordingly, the Provincial People's Committee continues to direct relevant departments and localities to coordinate closely and provide maximum support to investors and related units throughout the project implementation process, ensuring progress and quality. At the same time, it will strengthen inspection and supervision of implementation to prevent losses, waste, and corruption.

“We believe that every school project constructed in the border regions of our country will truly become a school of faith, knowledge, and aspirations for the children of our people in the border areas,” said Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thi Minh Thuy.

To encourage and motivate students to overcome difficulties and excel in their studies and training, on this occasion, Deputy Prime Minister Pham Thi Thanh Tra presented 20 gifts and scholarships to outstanding students from disadvantaged backgrounds and 10 gifts to teachers in difficult circumstances.
