The festival is an opportunity to pay tribute to the great contributions of Quan co Tran Van Thanh and the Gia Nghi militia who sacrificed for the nation, embodying the tradition of "uong nuoc nho nguon" (gratitude to ancestors), educating the younger generation about patriotism, and attracting people from within and outside the locality to pilgrimage and worship.

Inheriting and promoting the patriotic tradition of Quan co Tran Van Thanh in the two resistance wars against the French and American invaders, the people of Thanh My Tay commune in particular, and the people of Chau Phu district (old) in general, have wholeheartedly followed the Party to fight against the enemy, being strong and unyielding, overcoming countless hardships, and not fearing sacrifice, making important contributions to the cause of national liberation and unification.

In 2010 (May 28, 2010), the armed forces and people of Thanh My Tay commune were honored as one of the 4 communes of Chau Phu district (old) awarded the title "Hero of the People's Armed Forces" by the President, along with the "Armed Forces and People of Chau Phu district". This is a great encouragement for the people of Thanh My Tay commune to continue promoting the revolutionary spirit in the current construction and development of their hometown.
