(AG Provincial E-Portal) - On the afternoon of April 6th, the An Giang Provincial Party Standing Committee held a conference to inform former provincial leaders and members of the Provincial Party Standing Committee from various periods about the situation and results of political tasks in the first quarter of 2026.
The conference was chaired by Mr. Ho Van Mung, Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, and Mr. Lam Minh Thanh, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee.

At the conference, Mr. Ho Van Mung, Member of the Central Party Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, provided information on the socio-economic picture of the province in the first months of 2026. He emphasized that, in this context, the Provincial Party Standing Committee focused on leading and directing the implementation of key tasks, ensuring comprehensive leadership, identifying priority tasks, promptly resolving many emerging issues, and achieving quite positive and comprehensive results in all aspects. Most of the key tasks for the quarter were completed according to plan.
In the first quarter of 2026, An Giang province's economy continues to maintain a relatively high growth rate of 7.8%, the highest in the Mekong Delta region and ranking 25th out of 34 provinces and cities nationwide. Rice production is estimated at 4.3 million tons, reaching 48.93% of the annual plan, an increase of 0.2% compared to the same period last year. Agriculture continues to affirm its role as a pillar with improved production and quality; trade and services are recovering positively; import-export activities and tourism are showing many positive signs. Budget revenue collection is on expected plan, creating resources for investment and development. The socio-cultural sector is receiving comprehensive attention, especially in caring for the lives of the people, policy beneficiaries, and those in difficult circumstances. Healthcare and education continue to improve in quality. Notably, efforts to strengthen Party building and the political system continue to be intensified. The implementation of resolutions and directives has been carried out seriously, in conjunction with the innovation of leadership and management methods.
The Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also outlined several specific tasks and solutions in each sector for the second quarter of 2026. These include continuing to implement solutions to promote economic growth, attract investment, and support production and business activities to achieve the economic growth target of 10.71% in 2026 as planned by the province, creating a foundation for an average growth rate of 11% for the entire term; continuing to review and evaluate the economic growth results of various sectors in the first quarter of 2026, adjusting the growth scenario for the remaining quarters, and implementing tasks and solutions to ensure the GRDP growth target for 2026; and urgently completing and implementing breakthrough projects to create a basis for accelerating growth in 2026 and the 2026-2030 period...

Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ho Van Mung emphasized: The achievements in the first quarter are thanks to the guidance and support of the Central Government, the resolute efforts of the entire Party Committee, government, military and people of the province, including the active contributions of former provincial leaders and former members of the Provincial Party Standing Committee to the overall development of An Giang. He also expressed his hope that these comrades would continue to utilize their wisdom and experience, contributing many insightful and practical opinions, especially in key areas such as economic restructuring, infrastructure development, improving the quality of human resources, and building a clean and strong Party.
At the conference, former provincial leaders expressed their enthusiasm for the achievements, while also frankly exchanging and contributing many heartfelt and responsible opinions. The former provincial leaders also proposed focusing on in-depth research into the economic structure of the new An Giang province to exploit and develop the local potential advantages in trade and services. They suggested reviewing and reassessing the land resources in the province's central urban areas, thereby providing guidance for merging neighboring localities in accordance with their advantages and potential; paying attention to the quality of new rural communes after mergers; and resolutely accelerating the progress of projects.
