(AG Provincial E-Portal) - On March 30, the 10th An Giang Provincial People's Council held its 1st session of the 11th term (2026-2031) to consider and decide on several matters within the council's authority.
Speaking at the session, Provincial People's Council Chairman Nguyen Thanh Nhan said the first session was held earlier than previous terms, ensuring timeliness in organizational restructuring and showing determination to get the machinery operational promptly without slowing development.
"This is not just a session to restructure the Provincial People's Council and People's Committee, but also lays the foundation for the entire term's operations. The matters considered and decided here - from confirming delegate credentials and electing key positions to approving work regulations and activity plans - directly impact the effectiveness of the machinery over the next 5 years," emphasized Provincial People's Council Chairman Nguyen Thanh Nhan.
Speaking at the session, the Party Central Committee member and the Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Tien Hai urged the 11th Provincial People's Council to continue innovating and improving effectiveness. He also emphasized strengthening review, research, and issuing mechanisms to promote An Giang's development in the new era.
Alongside restructuring, the machinery must be promptly and effectively operational - this is key to a successful term.
Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Tien Hai demanded that after the session, the Standing Committee of the People's Council, the People's Council Committees, the Provincial People's Committee, council members, and each delegate immediately start work; quickly issue work regulations and specific tasks. Absolutely avoid disorganization or delays from the start of the term.
At the session, delegates heard the Provincial Election Committee report on the election results and confirmation of qualifications for 85 delegates to the 11th Provincial People's Council (2026-2031 term).
The meeting elected Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nhan, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, as Chair of the 11th Provincial People's Council for the 2026-2031 term.
Comrade Le Hong Tham, member of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Board and Vice Chairwoman of the 10th Provincial People's Council, along with Vice Chairs Giang Van Phuc and Dinh Thi Viet Huynh, were elected as Vice Chairs of the 11th Provincial People's Council for the 2026-2031 term.
Comrade Nguyen Thanh Nhan, 49, is from Phuoc Hoa commune, Ho Chí Minh City. He holds a degree in Construction Engineering, a PhD in Economics, and advanced political theory training. Previously, he served as Party Secretary and Chairman of Ha Tien City (former Kien Giang province), Vice Chair and Chair of Kien Giang People's Committee, and Chair of An Giang Provincial People's Council since July 2025. |
