(AG Provincial E-Portal) - The first phase of the Chau Doc – Can Tho – Soc Trang Expressway Project, along the section passing through An Giang Province, is being accelerated by contractors with the spirit of “overcoming sun and rain” and “working every possible hour, resting only when necessary,” determined to complete the project at the earliest possible time…

The Chau Doc – Can Tho – Soc Trang Expressway (Phase 1) has a total length of 188.2 km, designed with four lanes and a total investment of VND 44,691 billion. The project is divided into four component projects, of which the An Giang Provincial People’s Committee is the governing body for Component Project 1, 57 km in length, with a total investment of VND 13,526 billion.

Following extensive efforts to resolve material supply issues and implement technical solutions to shorten the construction timeline, the project aims to open to traffic on December 19, 2025 - nearly six months ahead of schedule—and to be fully operational by 2027.

As of August 1, the total construction output reached 54.08%, exceeding the plan by 0.14%. An Giang Province has disbursed nearly VND 1,450 billion out of the nearly VND 3,450 billion allocated for 2025, achieving over 42%.

According to Mr. Vo Dai Thach, Deputy General Director of Thanh Huy Group Joint Stock Company, the company is responsible for Package 44 of Component Project 1, covering 5.56 km. To date, construction output has reached approximately 59.03% compared to the planned 58.01%, exceeding the target by about 1.02%. The company is currently focused on constructing embankments at both ends of the bridges, casting traffic safety components and ITS systems, stockpiling aggregate and stone for asphalt works—with a workforce of over 140 personnel, including engineers and workers, supported by nearly 60 pieces of equipment and machinery.

“It is expected that in early September, the unit will begin load removal; by December, we aim to complete asphalt paving on all bridge decks and bridge approaches, as well as approximately 2 km of roadway, bringing the total paved length to around 3.5 km of the 5.56 km route. The remaining sections will undergo load removal and aggregate base preparation,” Mr. Vo Dai Thach said.
According to Mr. Dinh Van To, Director of the An Giang Provincial Project Management Board, the investor closely monitors project implementation progress on a weekly basis to urge timely execution. The Board also coordinates closely with relevant sectors and contractors to promptly resolve difficulties and obstacles during construction, thereby accelerating progress while ensuring project quality.

During an inspection visit to the construction site in Vinh Te Ward in late July, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh called on contractors to maximize manpower, machinery, and resources to implement solutions that accelerate progress, “press the advantage,” and shorten the timeline, while ensuring quality, technical standards, aesthetics, and construction safety. He stressed that any needs or shortages must be reported immediately. He also urged Party committees, authorities, and the people of An Giang Province to continue supporting engineers and workers in both material and spiritual aspects, “ensuring that no engineer or worker feels alone on the construction site.”
