The conference took place against the backdrop of Malaysia's vigorous rollout of the "Visit Malaysia 2026" campaign, which aims to attract tens of millions of international visitors and generate momentum for regional tourism cooperation.

In attendance at the Conference were Vietnamese Ambassador to Malaysia Dinh Ngoc Linh, along with representatives from tourism management agencies and tourism and travel enterprises.

Speaking at the Conference, Vietnamese Ambassador to Malaysia Dinh Ngoc Linh underscored the role of tourism cooperation in consolidating the Vietnam–Malaysia strategic partnership, while affirming that the Mekong Delta is one of the most tourism-rich regions, deeply imbued with the cultural identity of a riverine civilization.

Participating in the Conference, An Giang Province actively showcased its distinctive destinations and diverse tourism ecosystem, including: spiritual tourism at Nui Sam – Chau Doc, eco-tourism at Tra Su cajuput forest, community-based tourism tied to Cham and Khmer cultures, and signature culinary products of the Bay Nui region.

Deputy Director of the An Giang Provincial Centre for Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion Nguyen Tam Tuyet Trinh noted that participation in the conference in Malaysia was not only aimed at promoting destinations but also at fostering business-to-business connectivity and expanding the international visitor market — particularly the Muslim (Halal) traveler segment, which holds significant potential in Malaysia and the broader region, and is also one of the key strengths of An Giang's tourism offering. This is an opportunity for An Giang to learn from experiences in sustainable tourism development, improve service quality, and diversify its tourism products.
