(AG Provincial E-Portal) - On the morning of February 10, in Long Xuyen Ward, Vice Chairwoman of the An Giang Provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Thi Minh Thuy chaired a working session with the communes of An Chau, Binh Hoa, Can Dang, Vinh Hanh, Vinh An, Thoai Son, Dinh My, Phu Hoa, Vinh Trach, and Tay Phu on the implementation of socio-economic development tasks. Leaders of provincial departments and agencies, along with leaders of the localities, also attended.
Reporting at the session, Deputy Director of the Department of Finance Trinh Trung Tin said that the commune-level People’s Committees have developed specific plans to operationalize the Resolution of the Provincial Party Congress and the Provincial Party Committee Executive Board’s action program implementing the Resolution of the Provincial Party Congress for the 2025-2030 term across each sector, clearly defining objectives, targets, tasks, and key solutions; and assigning responsibilities to each agency, unit, and individual in charge. At the same time, localities have promptly and seriously implemented local resolutions and action programs in line with those of the provincial Party Committee. The communes’ direction and administration have been proactive and flexible, promoting leadership - especially the responsibility of heads of agencies - in accelerating administrative reform, particularly the application of information technology in state management and the application of science and technology in production and business activities, thereby creating initial positive changes in promoting local socio-economic development, contributing to improving the effectiveness and efficiency of state management and people’s livelihoods.
In addition, the implementation of the two-tier local government model has achieved many positive results, especially in consolidating the organizational apparatus, streamlining the structure, and clearly defining functions and tasks. This has helped operations become more orderly and effective, improved service quality, and shortened the time needed to process administrative procedures.
Preparations for the election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and the People’s Councils at all levels for the 2026–2031 term have been deployed in a timely manner; national defense and security work has received attention from localities; and the political security and social order situation has remained basically stable.
Following exchanges among delegates and in order to successfully fulfill the 2026 tasks - creating a foundation for the 2026–2030 period - Vice Chairwoman of the An Giang Provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Thi Minh Thuy requested the communes of An Chau, Binh Hoa, Can Dang, Vinh Hanh, Vinh An, Thoai Son, Dinh My, Phu Hoa, Vinh Trach, and Tay Phu to focus on leading and directing the effective organization of activities celebrating the Party and Spring 2026; fully and promptly implement Tet care programs for residents, especially poor and near-poor households and policy-beneficiary families, ensuring no one is left behind, in the spirit that “everyone has Tet.” At the same time, they are to strengthen the assurance of traffic order and safety, food safety, and environmental sanitation so that people can welcome the Binh Ngo Lunar New Year and Spring Festival 2026 in a joyful, safe, healthy, and thrifty manner.
The Vice Chairwoman also noted that the communes must focus on coordination and strong direction to successfully organize the election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and the People’s Councils at all levels for the 2026–2031 term; proactively develop plans to ensure absolute security and safety before, during, and after the election; strictly implement the work of selecting and calling citizens for military service; and properly organize visits and encouragement for young people enlisting, ensuring quotas are met, regulations are followed, and recruitment quality is improved.
Regarding socio-economic development in 2026, Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Minh Thuy emphasized that the communes should continue reviewing all assigned targets and tasks under Decision No. 252/QD-UBND; urgently roll out plans and growth scenarios in the spirit of “six clarities,” assigning specific tasks to each organization and individual, tied to the responsibility of the head of the agency, serving as a basis for evaluating implementation results. They should develop a detailed implementation plan with clear timelines for each objective; regularly monitor and report progress, and promptly adjust solutions as appropriate.
Accordingly, focus should be placed on several key contents: proactively implementing assigned tasks under the An Giang Provincial Master Plan for the 2021–2030 period, with a vision to 2050, immediately after the adjustment is approved. Strongly direct the disbursement of 2026 public investment capital, striving for a 100% disbursement rate, especially for National Target Programs; and focus on removing difficulties and bottlenecks and accelerating site clearance, particularly for key projects in the area.
Promote administrative reform associated with digital transformation; cut at least 30% of the time required for administrative procedures; ensure 100% of dossiers are processed on time or ahead of schedule; enhance the effectiveness of e-government and digital government development; substantively implement Project 06; and encourage people to use online public services at Levels 3 and 4. Ensure social welfare, healthcare, and education; develop culture in association with preserving national identity and effectively tapping tourism potential, especially rural tourism; and give due attention to ethnic and religious work.
Strengthen financial discipline and order; strictly manage public assets and land; step up the prevention and control of corruption and negativity in association with practicing thrift and combating waste. Maintain political security and social order and safety; strictly implement citizen reception work and settle complaints and denunciations from the grassroots level, preventing the emergence of hotspots.
Regarding local difficulties and obstacles, Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Minh Thuy requested provincial departments and agencies, within their functions and tasks, to urgently review, respond, and resolve issues within their authority; for matters beyond their authority, they must promptly report and propose to the Provincial People’s Committee. At the same time, localities must proactively work with relevant departments and sectors, rather than waiting for direction from the Provincial People’s Committee, avoiding delays that could affect overall progress.
On this occasion, the Vice Chairwoman of the An Giang Provincial People’s Committee presented gifts to the communes of Binh Giang, Binh Son, Hon Dat, Son Kien, My Thuan, Vinh Binh, Vinh Phong, Vinh Thuan, and Vinh Hoa./.
