(AG Provincial E-Portal) - On the morning of February 24, Deputy Chairman of An Giang Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thi Minh Thuy led a delegation to survey the investment location of the multi-level boarding school project for primary and secondary education in border communes of Vinh Dieu and Ba Chuc. Representatives from relevant departments, the Provincial Project Management Board, the Investment and Construction - Transportation Project Management Board, and local leaders joined the survey.
In Vinh Dieu commune, the working group surveyed the proposed site for the construction of the Multi-level Boarding School for Primary and Secondary Education in Vinh Dieu, based on the current status of Vinh Phu Secondary School. At the site, the group heard reports from the investor and local authorities on the planning, investment scale, and challenges related to construction while maintaining ongoing teaching activities.
Accordingly, the project plans to invest in a 2.672-hectare site with 30 classrooms accommodating over 1,000 students, including 16 primary classes (480 students) and 14 secondary classes (520 students), along with 8 specialized classrooms. The school is expected to board 300 students. The project will renovate and rebuild outdated facilities, including libraries, classrooms, dormitories, cafeterias, multi-purpose halls, and technical infrastructure.
At the survey meeting, Deputy Chairman of An Giang Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thi Minh Thuy instructed the investor to quickly finalize the project documents and submit them to the Department of Construction for appraisal. She also requested coordination with relevant departments such as Education and Training, Agriculture and Environment, Finance, and the Provincial Police to address administrative procedure challenges.
For Vinh Dieu commune, she emphasized the need to urgently develop a land clearance plan and prepare necessary conditions, aiming to complete the procedures as soon as possible.
The next survey site was the proposed location for the Multi-level Boarding School for Primary and Secondary Education in Ba Chuc, situated at Ba Chuc Secondary School in Ba Chuc commune. Here, the working group inspected the 4.68-hectare site planned for the school, which would include 45 classrooms for approximately 1,500 students, with boarding facilities for 350 students. The project involves renovating existing structures and constructing new buildings, including classrooms, dormitories, cafeterias, and supporting facilities.
At the meeting, Deputy Chairman of An Giang Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thi Minh Thuy instructed relevant departments to proactively collaborate, finalize documents following proper procedures, gather feedback from stakeholders, and promptly submit them to provincial leaders for review.
She emphasized the need to consider expanding the land reserve, allocating space for green areas, nurseries, and other supporting facilities, particularly preserving existing trees and only removing those affecting construction. The goal is to build environmentally friendly schools with ample greenery, creating a harmonious natural environment.
The early implementation of the two multi-level boarding school projects in Vinh Dieu and Ba Chuc is expected to positively impact education development in border areas, contributing to socio-economic growth and reinforcing national defense and security in the region./.
