(AG Provincial E-Portal) - On the morning of February 26th, the National Election Council held a nationwide online conference to implement the election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and deputies to People's Councils at all levels for the 2026-2031 term. National Assembly Chairman and Chairman of the National Election Council Tran Thanh Man presided over the conference.

At the An Giang province online meeting point, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Phong, Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, and Vice Chairman of the Provincial Election Committee, attended the conference.
Presenting the report at the Conference, the Secretary General of the National Assembly and Chief of the Office of the National Election Council, Le Quang Manh, stated that to date, election preparations have been implemented proactively and systematically, in accordance with the requirements of the Politburo, the Secretariat, and the National Election Council.
Regarding the list of candidates for National Assembly representatives, based on the results of the third consultative conference, the National Election Council issued a resolution announcing the list of 864 official candidates for the 16th National Assembly in 182 electoral districts.
Regarding the election of People's Council representatives at all levels, by December 25, 2025, all 34 provinces and cities had completed the process of determining the number of electoral units and the number of People's Council representatives to be elected in accordance with the law. Nationwide, there are 724 electoral units for provincial-level People's Council representatives with 2,554 elected representatives and 22,451 electoral units for commune-level People's Council representatives with 72,613 elected representatives.
Following the third consultative conference, the National Election Council issued Resolution No. 151/NQ-HĐBCQG dated February 14, 2026, announcing the list of 864 candidates for the 16th National Assembly in 182 constituencies nationwide. The total number of candidates for provincial People's Councils after the third consultative conference is 4,227. The total number of candidates for commune-level People's Council representatives after the third consultative meeting is 121,242.

The process of compiling, reviewing, and posting voter lists was carried out seriously and in accordance with regulations. According to reports from all 34 provinces and cities, a total of 73,457,255 voters nationwide cast their ballots at 72,195 polling stations. The voter lists were publicly posted at designated locations within the legally stipulated timeframe.
Regarding voter outreach, election campaigning, and training for first-time candidates, immediately after the official list of candidates is announced, candidates will conduct voter outreach and campaigning as planned.
In the coming period, the National Election Council and related agencies will focus on leading, directing, and implementing many important tasks in a coordinated and rigorous manner.
This includes organizing the voting and vote counting process strictly, objectively, and in accordance with the law; reporting promptly and accurately; compiling and announcing results within the deadline (no later than March 25th); and resolving complaints and denunciations according to authority.
In his remarks at the conference, Politburo member, Chairman of the National Assembly, and Chairman of the National Election Council Tran Thanh Man assessed that the preparations for the election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and deputies to People's Councils at all levels for the 2021-2026 term were well-organized from the central to local levels, closely following guidelines, on schedule, and in accordance with the law; personnel matters were meticulously prepared; and political security and social safety were ensured.
Chairman of the National Election Council Tran Thanh Man requested that all levels and sectors continue to coordinate closely and implement synchronously and effectively the tasks of preparing for the election; strengthen propaganda to encourage voters to actively exercise their rights and responsibilities as citizens, participate fully and in accordance with regulations; and at the same time ensure absolute security and safety so that the election takes place democratically, openly, and in accordance with the law .
