(AG Provincial E-Portal) -On March 8, at the Nui Cam Forest Park, the An Giang Provincial People's Committee organized the Nui Cam Tourism Development Conference under the theme "Current Situation and Orientations for Tourism Development at Nui Cam, An Giang Province."
The conference was chaired by Ho Van Mung, Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee. Also in attendance were Le Van Phuoc, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; leaders of provincial departments, agencies, and sectors; and enterprises operating in the tourism and travel service industry.

According to the Nui Cam Tourist Area Management Board, Nui Cam (Thien Cam Son) is located at the center of the Bay Nui region, spanning the communes of Nui Cam and An Cu, as well as Chi Lang ward, with a natural area of 3,100 hectares and an elevation of 710 meters above sea level. With its majestic mountainous terrain and unique natural landscape, Nui Cam is regarded as a key tourism highlight of An Giang Province and the Mekong Delta region. The Nui Cam Tourist Area is planned across an area of over 1,050 hectares, the majority of which, including the central tourism zone, falls within Nui Cam Commune.
Nui Cam enjoys a year-round cool climate with an average temperature ranging from 18 to 25 degrees Celsius and humidity of approximately 80%, which is highly favorable for the growth of many plant species. The area has two distinct seasons: the rainy season from June to November and the dry season from December to May of the following year, averaging around six dry months per year.

Director of the Department of Tourism Bui Quoc Thai stated that throughout its development process, the Nui Cam Tourist Area has progressively established itself as an important destination within An Giang's tourism landscape, effectively leveraging its available natural and cultural resources — particularly the combination of spiritual, ecological, and resort tourism. The Nui Cam Tourist Area is gradually diversifying its products and services for visitors, including a cable car system, trekking activities, and the Lam Vien Water Park, thereby enhancing visitor experience, promoting socio-economic development, and improving the livelihoods of local residents.
With regard to the future development of the Nui Cam Tourist Area, the An Giang Department of Tourism proposed that the area should orient itself toward diversifying tourism products in alignment with its inherent potential and advantages — with a particular focus on eco-tourism, resort tourism, and spiritual tourism. At the same time, efforts should be made to gradually attract investment in high-quality accommodation and tourism service facilities, working toward the establishment of resorts and hotels rated from three to five stars to meet the demands of visitors.
In addition, the development of spiritual eco-tourism should be linked with distinctive attractions such as pagodas, caves, temples, and spiritual landmarks on Nui Cam. Notable sites including Van Linh Pagoda, Phat Lon Pagoda, Thuy Liem Cave, Bac Vat Lang Cave, Ong Ho Cave, and Cuu Pham Temple should be restored and upgraded in order to preserve their cultural and religious values and enhance the appeal of the destination.

At the conference, experts suggested that the locality should encourage community-based tourism development, including agro-tourism, garden eco-tourism, and traditional craft villages, thereby gradually integrating local communities into tourism activities. They also called for the formulation of a destination development strategy with a clear brand positioning on the regional tourism map, including positioning Nui Cam's image under the taglines "Nui Cam — The Rooftop of the West" or "The Eco-Spiritual Tourism Center of the Bay Nui Region."

In his concluding remarks at the conference, Provincial People's Committee Chairman Ho Van Mung emphasized that the conference holds great significance in driving tourism development in An Giang Province as a whole, with a focus on Nui Cam tourism and surrounding areas.
Alongside the breakthrough development of Phu Quoc on the national and international tourism map, An Giang Province possesses considerable potential, advantages, and room for tourism growth — particularly following its administrative merger. The province offers a full range of tourism types, from mountain, river, and sea tourism to premium tourism, community-based tourism, spiritual and cultural tourism, and historical tourism.
In order to maximally exploit and leverage the advantages of Nui Cam, Provincial People's Committee Chairman Ho Van Mung called on provincial departments, agencies, and local authorities to strengthen management and uphold the rule of law; ensure public order and security; protect the landscape and environment; address illegal homestay construction; prevent harassment of tourists; maintain traffic safety and environmental sanitation — all with the aim of building the image of a green, civilized, and safe destination. At the same time, he urged the development of tourism tours and routes to promote the brand, and the application of digital transformation to tourism.
Chairman Ho Van Mung announced that the province will call on qualified enterprises to participate in investing in and managing the Nui Cam Tourist Area in accordance with the law, gradually transitioning from a state-management model to one that attracts private investment — thereby effectively harnessing the area's potential and turning Nui Cam into an attractive tourism destination for the region.
