Speaking at the opening of the Conference, comrade Ho Van Mung, Alternate member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of An Giang province said: An Giang province - a special land, where there are both fertile plains and rich soil fertilized by the two rivers Tien and Hau, is very suitable for developing large-scale agricultural economy, especially rice, seafood and fruits. The place has hills and mountains stretching from the East to the West, forming the majestic That Son range with many beautiful, charming and lively landscapes, combined with unique cultural features of the ethnic groups living together, including the four main ethnic groups Kinh, Hoa, CHAM and KHMER, creating the most unique potential for developing cultural, spiritual, resort, ecological and entertainment tourism in the region. In addition, An Giang province also has a border with the Kingdom of Cambodia of nearly 100 km long and 02 International Border Gates: Vinh Xuong, Tinh Bien and 01 National Border Gate Khanh Binh which is preparing to be upgraded to an International Border Gate in the near future. This is an important trade center to the Kingdom of Cambodia and the Mekong sub-region countries, so the Government has chosen An Giang Border Gate Economic Zone as 01 of 08 important Border Gate Economic Zones to prioritize investment in the coming time, turning this place into a multi-industry, multi-sector economic zone including: Industry  - trade - services - tourism - logistics – city and agriculture, forestry and fishery.

With many natural advantages, available potentials, cultural and historical values that have been cultivated over many generations, the development goal until 2030 of An Giang province has been identified and affirmed in three key areas: Agricultural economy, tourism development and border trade economy and the province determines to turn these potentials and strengths into new growth drivers for An Giang's economy in the coming time, specifically:

First, the potential of agricultural economy

An Giang province aims to develop a large-scale agricultural economy, reduce emissions, apply high technology, reduce costs, increase value, and become the center of rice and freshwater aquaculture in the Mekong Delta; Focus on developing the agricultural sector into an important economic sector of the province, taking into account regional linkages, production cooperation, reducing competitiveness, and effectively exploiting potentials and outstanding advantages in the spirit of Resolution No. 13-NQ/TW, dated April 02, 2022 of the Politburo (13th tenure) on the direction of socio-economic development, ensuring national defense and security in the Mekong Delta region to 2030, with a vision to 2045.

In addition to rice, An Giang province will exploit more effectively the advantages of fresh water and soil resources, focusing on developing more key agricultural products of the province such as pangasius, vegetables and fruit trees, along with potential product groups such as livestock and edible mushrooms, medicinal herbs to supply the food processing industry with the main orientation of enhancing refined processing, diversifying products, increasing the proportion of products with high added value according to a closed supply chain, synchronized from raw materials to finished products.

Second, the potential for tourism development

An Giang province still has a lot of potential to develop tourism into an important economic sector of the province, making the tourism industry contribute more to the budget and local economic development, especially spiritual tourism, historical tourism, eco-tourism, river tourism, resorts, entertainment, community tourism, discovery and experience still have a lot of potentials for development.

Therefore, the number of tourists coming to An Giang province is very large, in 2024 there will be about 9 million visitors coming to visit and travel. In order to continue to best promote the development potential of the province's key tourist areas such as: Sam Mountain National Tourist Area, Cam Mountain Tourist Area, Tra Su Melaleuca Forest Eco-tourism Area, Bung Binh Thien Tourist Area, Cu Lao Gieng Tourist Area; My Hoa Hung - Pho Ba Islet Tourist Area; Oc Eo - Ba The Special National Relic Area, An Giang province really needs large investors, with full experience and capacity, who can implement  methodical, effective, breakthrough investment strategies, diversified in many forms and further enriching the tourist types and tours to attract, retain and encourage visitors' spending.

Third, the potential of border trade economy

With a border line of nearly 100km to the Kingdom of Cambodia, An Giang province is planned into 03 Border Gate Economic Zones, with a total area of over 30,000 hectares, which are multi-industry and multi-sector economic zones. Currently, a number of functional sub-zones have been planned to develop trade - logistics services and industrial production to welcome investors to research and exploit.

In addition, to maximize the potential and advantages of border trade economy, An Giang province has received attention from the Government for investment in the Chau Doc - Can Tho - Soc Trang Expressway Project connecting with Tran De International Seaport in Soc Trang province, National Highway N1 and Chau Doc Bridge connecting with Dong Thap and Kien Giang provinces, routes connecting with Tinh Bien and Khanh Binh Border Gates, connecting with Vinh Xuong International Border Gate to industrial parks, clusters, tourist areas, urban areas, trade, services, river ports and raw material areas. From there, it will help An Giang province expand the space, creating momentum for socio-economic development and advantages in attracting investment, especially attracting strategic investors to the province's Border Gate Economic Zone.

Chairman of the People's Committee of An Giang province Ho Van Mung emphasized: With the theme of the Conference "An Giang: New Space - New Values" as a message, An Giang province wishes to convey to all domestic and foreign investors and enterprises the core values and contents of the An Giang Provincial Planning for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050 approved by the Prime Minister. At the same time, An Giang province also wishes to have the opportunity to promote the image, cultural and historical values, and typical local products through the exhibition space at the Conference.

With this message, An Giang province has successfully connected with more than 10 strategic investors wishing to cooperate and research and survey investment projects in important areas with great development potential of the province such as: (1) infrastructure development of industrial parks and clusters, functional areas of border economic zones; (2) food processing industry, light industry; (3) urban development and commercial housing; (4) renewable energy, clean energy; (5) trade - logistics services - tourism; (6) development of high-tech, large-scale agriculture and they were awarded the Minutes of Cooperation Agreement and Investment Survey right at the Conference.

The Conference on Introducing Investment Potential and Promoting Typical Products of An Giang Province in 2024 will provide basic information on the Provincial Planning for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050, introduce and promote the province's potential, advantages, and investment attraction orientation to investors. At the same time, the leaders of An Giang province hope that this Conference will be an opportunity for managers, experts, investors, and businesses to contribute ideas and suggestions to help the province better identify the potentials, advantages, opportunities, environment, and differences when investing in An Giang province in the coming time.
