An Giang aims for an average annual growth rate of 10-12% in the private sector by 2030

(AG Provincial E-Portal) - In order to further raise awareness of the role and responsibility of Party committees, government agencies at all levels, mass organizations, and the entire society regarding the important position and role of the private economy, An Giang province identifies the private economy as the most important driving force of the local economy, playing a pioneering role in promoting GRDP growth, creating jobs, improving labor productivity, and enhancing competitiveness.

An Giang strives to achieve, by 2030, an average annual growth rate of the private sector in the province's economy of approximately 10-12%, with the private sector contributing about 85-90% of the province's GRDP and 70-80% of the province's total budget revenue, providing employment for about 84-85% of the total workforce; and an average annual increase in labor productivity of about 8.5-9.5%. Regarding enterprise development and improving the quality of production and business, the province aims to have at least 26,000 operating enterprises, including at least 200 medium and large-scale enterprises, and 20 leading enterprises driving the province's key products; Improve the quality and efficiency of production and business in the province's private sector. Develop large-scale enterprises with protected brands and competitive, sustainable business practices. Focus on improving the investment and business environment and administrative reform, striving to bring the Provincial Competitiveness Index (PCI), the Public Administration Reform Index (PAR Index), the Satisfaction Index of Citizens and Organizations with the Satisfaction Index of Public Administrative Services (SIPAS), and the Provincial Innovation Index (PII) among the top 15 provinces and cities nationwide.

By 2045, An Giang province aims for a strong development of its private sector, both in quantity and quality, with the capacity for competitiveness and international integration. The province will have at least 65,000 enterprises, including at least 450 medium and large-scale enterprises, contributing over 90% of the province's GRDP.

To achieve the set objectives and execute the Government's Resolution and the Action Program of the Provincial Party Committee, An Giang has mandated its departments, agencies, communes and special zones wards to institutionalize and resolutely organize the implementation of the following tasks: modernizing mindsets and fostering high unity in awareness and action, arousing national confidence and aspirations, creating new impetus and momentum for the development of the private economy; Promoting reform, perfecting and improving the quality of institutions and policies, ensuring and effectively protecting ownership rights, property rights, freedom of business, equal competition rights, and ensuring the enforcement of contracts for the private economy; Facilitating private sector access to resources such as land, capital, and high-quality human resources; promoting science and technology, innovation, digital transformation, green transformation, and efficient and sustainable business practices in the private sector; strengthening connections between private enterprises, and between private enterprises and state-owned enterprises and FDI enterprises; rapidly forming and developing medium and large enterprises and private economic groups; providing substantive and effective support to small, micro, and household businesses; upholding business ethics, promoting social responsibility, strongly fostering the entrepreneurial spirit, and creating favorable conditions for entrepreneurs to participate in national governance; improving the business environment and perfecting mechanisms and policies on inspection, auditing, licensing, certification, competition, and business bankruptcy; supporting access to land, production and business premises, and leasing of public assets.

According to the report of the Provincial People's Committee, in the first quarter of 2026, An Giang province's GRDP growth reached 7.8%, ranking first in the Mekong Delta region and 25th out of 34 provinces and cities. Activities at border gates were strictly managed, ensuring stable trade; total import and export turnover at border gates reached approximately 107 million USD (a 20% increase), of which exports totaled 62 million USD (a 9% increase) and imports 45 million USD (a 40% increase). Industrial parks and border economic zones have 66 active projects (including 10 FDI projects), with a total registered capital of approximately 13,420 billion VND and 218 hectares of leased land; creating jobs for approximately 37,026 workers./.
