Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Minister of Finance Nguyen Van Thang; Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Manh Cuong; Alternate Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of An Giang Province Ho Van Mung; along with representatives of leaders from departments, agencies and Sun Group attended the event.

Four key projects serving APEC 2027 have a total investment of over VND 14,800 billion. Among them, the Urban Metro Line Project, Phase 1, with a length of approximately 17.7 km and a total investment of about VND 9,000 billion, will contribute to gradually forming a modern and convenient public transportation system, reducing traffic pressure and protecting the urban environment of Phu Quoc. 

The Duong Dong 2 Reservoir investment project, with a capacity of approximately 7.5 million m3 and a water supply capacity of about 49,500 m3/day, has a total investment of approximately VND 2,950 billion, aiming to ensure water security and serve the sustainable socio-economic development of the special economic zone. 

Two resettlement projects include: the Ham Ninh Resettlement Area Project, covering 103 hectares, creating over 2,000 resettlement plots and approximately 2,500 apartment units, with a total investment of about VND 1,200 billion; and the Cua Can Resettlement Area Project, covering approximately 98.2 hectares, creating over 3,600 resettlement plots, with a total investment of about VND 1,650 billion. These projects meet the housing needs and stabilize the lives of the people, serve the land clearance work for key projects, contribute to the completion of the social infrastructure system, and ensure social security and sustainable urban development. 

Speaking at the ceremony, Standing Commission member of the Provincial Party Committee and Permanent Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of An Giang province, Nguyen Thanh Phong, said that investing in these projects not only aims to meet the requirements of organizing a particularly important diplomatic event of the country, but also provides an opportunity for Phu Quoc to continue to improve and upgrade the quality of its urban area, protect the landscape and environment; and build Phu Quoc into a green, modern, and civilized tourist city, worthy of its position as a regional and international tourism and resort center.

Through this initiative, An Giang province aims to strongly promote the image, culture, and people of Phu Quoc in particular and An Giang in general to international friends; affirming that it is a beautiful, safe, attractive destination with great potential, a place worth living in, worth investing in, and a place for green, rapid, and sustainable development in the region.

With the close guidance of the Government and the Prime Minister, the support and direction of central ministries and agencies, and the determination and decisiveness of the localities, all 21 projects have now completed the investment preparation procedures and commenced construction, with some projects exceeding the planned schedule.

The People's Committee of An Giang province is committed to implementing projects with the utmost urgency, decisiveness, and responsibility; strictly adhering to all legal regulations. The Standing Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of An Giang province, Nguyen Thanh Phong, emphasized the province's overarching principle: ensuring progress, quality, and efficiency; preserving the landscape and protecting the environment; linking economic development with national defense and security; and absolutely preventing any negative practices, corruption, losses, waste, or vested interests.

The Provincial People's Committee requests that investors, construction units, consultants, and relevant agencies focus their efforts and responsibilities on implementing the project on schedule; ensuring the quality of the construction, labor safety, and strictly complying with regulations on investment, construction, finance, and environmental management.

To ensure the safe, high-quality, and timely completion of the Urban Metro Line 1 and 3 projects, Central Committee Member and Minister of Finance Nguyen Van Thang requested the Party Committee, government, and people of An Giang province to continue assisting and supporting the land clearance and resettlement process, and to direct relevant agencies to support the investors and contractors during construction, focusing on completing the projects and works on schedule and ensuring the best possible quality.

Central ministries and agencies should strengthen inspection and supervision; proactively and continuously support, assist, and cooperate with the People's Committee of An Giang province in the process of implementing the project.

Sun Group Corporation, the investors, supervisory consultants, and contractors are demonstrating the highest sense of responsibility, strictly adhering to legal regulations on project investment management; quickly implementing construction while ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency, striving to complete projects ahead of schedule and bring them into operation and use as soon as possible.
