(AG Provincial E-Portal) - On the afternoon of November 10, Alternate Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of An Giang province Ho Van Mung received and worked with Pacific Construction Group to discuss cooperation in investment, construction, operation, and urban infrastructure development planning in the province.
Speaking at the meeting, Chairman Ho Van Mung stated that An Giang province has the third largest population in the country and the largest area among provinces in the Mekong Delta. The development orientation is for An Giang to become a strong national marine economic center, with Phu Quoc Special Zone as a leading global tourist destination. In the next five years, An Giang aims for economic growth of over 11%, with a target of more than 8% growth in 2025.
The province is actively attracting investment capital from enterprises to contribute to socio-economic development. In attracting foreign direct investment (FDI), An Giang particularly focuses on two major areas: transportation infrastructure and industrial clusters, especially investment in processing agricultural and aquatic products.
According to Chairman Ho Van Mung, the province is planning a new road about 60 km long connecting from Rach Gia ward to Long Xuyen ward, suitable for implementation under PPP, BT, BOT models. At the same time, the province is maximizing development in the industrial sector. Currently, the proportion of industry and construction in the provincial economic structure is below 20%. To achieve economic growth, the province is raising the proportion of industry to 25–30%.
An Giang has advantages in raw material areas, including aquatic products, agricultural products, existing raw material zones, and convenient transportation infrastructure. The province is completing the general planning with many projects that have sufficient legal basis for investment and construction.
Chairman Ho Van Mung proposed that Pacific Construction Group study and coordinate with An Giang provincial departments and sectors to implement investment in areas of interest and capacity. He expressed confidence that, within the framework of compliance with legal regulations, the two sides will cooperate effectively to achieve investment results and promote foreign relations between the two countries.
