Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Le Minh Hoan Surveys Agricultural Production Areas in An Giang

(AG Provincial E-Portal) - On July 13, Member of the Party Central Committee and Vice Chairman of the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Mr. Le Minh Hoan, led a working delegation to survey key agricultural production areas of major companies in An Giang Province. Accompanying the delegation were Giang Thanh Khoa, Vice Chairman of the An Giang Provincial People’s Committee, and representatives from provincial departments, agencies, businesses, and relevant localities.

Specifically, the delegation surveyed the production area of An Giang Fruits and Vegetables Joint Stock Company – Antesco, including the baby corn sourcing zone in Long Kien commune, the My An processing plant, and the company headquarters. They also visited the production site of Trung Son Joint Stock Company in To Chau ward, and the low-emission rice production area operated by Trung An Kien Giang High-Tech Agriculture Joint Stock Company in Binh Giang commune. This area is part of the project “Sustainable Development of One Million Hectares of High-Quality, Low-Emission Specialized Rice Linked to Green Growth in the Mekong Delta by 2030.”

According to the Department of Agriculture and Environment, in the first six months of 2025, An Giang Province’s agricultural production achieved positive results despite facing numerous challenges. The estimated rice output reached nearly 5 million tons (exceeding the target by 13.7%). Wild-capture fisheries recorded a total output of 208,868 tons, while aquaculture remained a key strength, covering a total area of 296,096 hectares with a production volume of 573,658 tons.

After hearing reports from businesses, farmers, and local authorities, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Le Minh Hoan highly praised the achievements and development orientations of An Giang Province in general, and of the participating enterprises in particular. He emphasized the importance of Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW (2024) on breakthroughs in national science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation; and Resolution No. 68-NQ/TW (2025) on the development of the private economic sector. Both resolutions, he noted, play a significant role in promoting Vietnam’s socio-economic development, aiming to drive the country toward rapid and sustainable growth with deep international integration.

Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Le Minh Hoan expressed his hope that enterprises would continue to build upon their achievements by adopting strategic approaches aligned with a new vision—promoting innovation and applying science and technology to develop new business models. He particularly urged businesses to seize the opportunities and policy directions outlined in Resolutions 57 and 68 to create breakthroughs in the near future.

Each company, he said, should effectively leverage the advantages of the private economy in this new era—remaining dynamic, creative, and enabling farmers to adopt modern technologies in production. He emphasized the importance of embracing the business philosophy: "Be kind to farmers, be kind to customers." Enterprises should strengthen efforts to build activities and models that foster close ties with farmers, create distinctive brand identities, and contribute to linking agriculture with provincial tourism development.

He also called on An Giang’s leadership to prioritize the development of a practical and tailored agricultural development strategy—one that capitalizes on the province’s strengths and agricultural potential, aiming to establish a closed-loop agricultural system that minimizes waste, optimizes resource use, and protects the environment. /.
