At the meeting, the delegates reviewed the glorious development and maturity of the health sector. During the period, the health sector of An Giang has constantly strived to overcome the difficulties and disadvantages of a populous, border, ethnic locality... to rise up, gradually develop steadily and comprehensively, and achieve many important achievements in the cause of caring for and protecting people's health.Most notably, the health system from the province to the grassroots level has been streamlined with improved operational efficiency; health human resources have been developed in many forms; new, specialized, and complex medical techniques have been successfully implemented. Patients do not have to be transferred to other levels. The quality of management and primary health care for people through the grassroots health system has been improved, contributing to reducing costs and increasing patient satisfaction. In particular, in the recent fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, the "white-blouse soldier" bravely worked day and night on the frontline against the pandemic, facing dangers to their lives and health, silently dedicating themselves, contributing, sacrificing their feelings and personal interests to bring a peaceful and happy life to the people...

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Le Hong Quang, An Giang Provincial Party Secretary, praised, acknowledged and expressed deep gratitude for the tireless efforts of all cadres, employees and workers in the health sector, with outstanding achievements over the past 70 years. Thereby, he proposed that An Giang's health sector proactively have breakthrough solutions and strategies to promote sustainable development, keep up with the movement of science, innovation and meet the requirements of caring for and protecting people's health in the new era of national development.

At the same time, thoroughly grasp and seriously and effectively implement the 12 directives of General Secretary To Lam at the visit and working session with the health sector on February 24th, 2025. In addition, pay attention to the synchronous and comprehensive development of the health system in the direction of modernity, active, proactive and effective prevention with the viewpoint of "Prevention is better than cure". Strengthen, consolidate and improve the capacity of preventive medicine, proactively prevent and fight pandemic; ensure early detection and timely handling of dangerous pandemic. Harmoniously combine modern medicine with traditional medicine, better meet the needs of medical examination and treatment of the people, contributing to building "A health system suitable to the needs of our people" as Uncle Ho wished 70 years ago.

Mr. Le Hong Quang, An Giang Provincial Party Secretary, suggested that the provincial health sector focused on developing human resources, especially high-quality medical human resources. In particular, it was necessary to have a long-term plan, develop a training strategy, attract and retain a team of good doctors and nurses to work in the locality; promote in-depth training, update new knowledge, improve professional capacity and ethics of medical staff. Actively expand scientific research cooperation, exchange medical staff and doctors with major hospitals and universities at home and abroad to improve the professional qualifications of the provincial medical staff.

At the same time, promote socialization, mobilize resources to develop the health system; diversify and promote forms of public-private partnership. Encourage and support organizations and individuals to invest in building health facilities, focusing on providing services, high technology, and on-demand services. Promote digital transformation in the health sector, identifying this as the "key" to improving the quality of medical examination and treatment and serving the people.

The provincial health sector has done a good job in public health and disease prevention for the people. Strengthening the work of preventing and combating corruption, waste, and negativity, cleaning up the apparatus, protecting the reputation of the sector and the honor of doctors and medical staff. Each cadre, medical staff, and doctor must always be a shining example of striving to practice and improve their expertise, cultivate professional ethics, uphold the Hippocratic oath and the "12 regulations on medical ethics"; raising awareness of respecting and protecting the lives and health of patients; treating patients fairly, without discrimination of "personal status"; respecting the rights and dignity of patients so that every patient coming to the medical facility feels secure, satisfied, and happy...

On this occasion, Mr. Le Hong Quang, Secretary of An Giang Provincial Party Committee presented flowers to congratulate and honor Dr. Nguyen Thi Hanh, former Director of An Giang Central General Hospital and Dr. Huynh Van Nen, former Principal of An Giang Medical College, who were awarded the title "People's Doctor" by the President.

On behalf of the Minister of Health, Mr. Ho Van Mung, Alternate member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the An Giang Provincial People's Committee, presented the Emulation Flag of the Ministry of Health to the Health Department Inspectorate for their outstanding achievements in the patriotic emulation movement in 2023.

In addition, the People's Committee of An Giang province awarded the Emulation Flags to 6 collectives leading the emulation movement in 2023; awarded certificates of merit to 9 collectives with achievements in the patriotic emulation movement in 2023 belonging to the Emulation Bloc of units under the Department of Health of An Giang province; awarded the title "Provincial Emulation Fighter" for the period 2020 - 2022 to 2 individuals with outstanding achievements and initiatives in performing their tasks.
