(AG Provincial E-Portal) - On the afternoon of February 9th, Ms. Nguyen Thi Minh Thuy, Provincial Party Committee member and Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Committee, chaired a working session with nine communes: Binh Giang, Binh Son, Hon Dat, Son Kien, My Thuan, Vinh Binh, Vinh Phong, Vinh Thuan, and Vinh Hoa, regarding the local socio-economic development situation.

Attending the working session were representatives from the leadership of various departments and agencies; leaders of the People's Committees of the communes of Binh Giang, Binh Son, Hon Dat, Son Kien, My Thuan, Vinh Binh, Vinh Phong, Vinh Thuan, and Vinh Hoa; leaders of the Provincial Investment and Construction - Transportation Project Management Board, and the An Giang Provincial Investment and Construction Project Management Board for Transportation and Agriculture; leaders of the Provincial People's Committee Office and leaders of specialized departments under the Provincial People's Committee Office.
The meeting aimed to assess the socio-economic development situation of the localities; report on the implementation of the Resolution and Action Program of the communes implementing the Provincial Party Committee's Resolution and implementing Decision No. 252/QD-UBND dated January 16, 2026 of the Provincial People's Committee on assigning tasks for socio-economic development of An Giang province in 2026; and determine the direction, tasks, and key solutions for the coming period. Representatives from the Department of Finance presented reports on the implementation of socio-economic development tasks in the communes of: Binh Giang, Binh Son, Hon Dat, Son Kien, My Thuan, Vinh Binh, Vinh Phong, Vinh Thuan, and Vinh Hoa.
Accordingly, regarding the economic tasks performed in January 2026, localities have implemented comprehensive solutions to develop agricultural, forestry, and fisheries production according to the set plan; communes have focused on harvesting the 2025-2026 rice crop; concentrated on completing the sowing of the 2025-2026 winter-spring rice crop; strengthened disease management in rice; gradually applied high technology, biotechnology, and post-harvest technology to production; effectively implemented disease prevention and control in livestock and poultry, preventing the occurrence of dangerous outbreaks; effectively implemented forest management and protection and forest fire prevention; continued to promote the restructuring of the fisheries sector towards gradually reducing exploitation and increasing aquaculture area; expanded many models applying high technology, cage farming, marine farming, and saltwater shrimp farming, shrimp-rice farming adapted to climate change; Strengthening the synchronized implementation of solutions to combat illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing. However, agricultural production remains affected by weather and natural disasters; production scale is still small and fragmented, and value chain linkages are not yet sustainable.
Industrial and handicraft production in localities has remained basically stable. Production facilities continue to invest in equipment modernization, expand scale, and develop in the direction of improving product quality and ensuring food safety and hygiene. Localities have implemented many industrial promotion policies to support rural industrial establishments, contributing to job creation and increased income for workers. Some traditional crafts have been maintained and developed. However, the competitiveness of businesses remains limited; the number of large-scale enterprises is still small.
In the socio-cultural field, there have been many positive changes; social security policies are ensured; and the material and spiritual lives of the people are gradually improving.
Besides the achievements, the implementation of tasks in some communes still reveals limitations. The implementation of the proposed tasks and solutions remains, on the whole, rather broad in scope, failing to clarify how to exploit and develop the unique potential and advantages of each locality. The implementation of some tasks is still slow, and the effectiveness is uneven across localities, requiring more decisive solutions in the future.
For socio-economic development tasks in February 2026 and the following months, the People's Committees of the communes need to focus on implementing key tasks to contribute to the successful achievement of the province's GRDP growth target of 10.71% in 2026 (striving to reach 11%); Continue to review, refine, and seriously, fully, and effectively implement the local socio-economic development tasks according to the detailed plan and scenarios of the localities, with a high spirit of striving to complete the assigned tasks, ensuring "six clear points: clear person, clear task, clear time, clear responsibility, clear product, clear authority" as directed in Decision No. 252/QD-UBND dated January 16, 2026 of the People's Committee of An Giang province on assigning socio-economic development tasks of An Giang province in 2026….
During the meeting, delegates exchanged views, discussed, and offered suggestions to address difficulties, obstacles, and recommendations encountered in the implementation of tasks in their respective localities, based on reports from representatives of the communes of Binh Giang, Binh Son, Hon Dat, Son Kien, My Thuan, Vinh Binh, Vinh Phong, Vinh Thuan, and Vinh Hoa.

Speaking at the working session, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thi Minh Thuy emphasized that 2026 is the first year of implementing the Resolution of the 14th National Congress of the Party and the Resolution of the 1st Congress of the An Giang Provincial Party Committee, with many high targets and tasks set forth, requiring the synchronized and decisive involvement of the entire political system, in which the role and responsibility of the leaders are key and decisive factors.
The overall objective of the 2026 plan is for the Provincial People's Committee to assign 438 specific tasks and targets to 31 provincial departments and agencies, and 102 groups of tasks to the People's Committees of communes, wards, and special zones for implementation in 2026. The "6 clear" principle will be applied: clear person, clear task, clear time, clear responsibility, clear output, and clear authority, aiming to increase the effectiveness of implementation. A key objective is to ensure strong economic growth, striving for a growth rate of 11% or higher across all sectors and fields in 2026.
To successfully complete the tasks for 2026 and lay the foundation for the 2026-2030 period, the Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Committee requested that communes focus on leading and directing the serious and effective implementation of key tasks: Organizing well the activities celebrating the Party and the Lunar New Year in 2026; fully and promptly carrying out the work of caring for the people during Tet, especially poor households, near-poor households, and policy beneficiary families, ensuring that no one is left behind, in the spirit of "everyone has Tet". Focusing on directing and coordinating closely to successfully organize the election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and deputies to the People's Councils at all levels for the 2026-2031 term. Strictly implementing the selection and recruitment of citizens for military service; organizing well the visits and encouragement of young people joining the military, ensuring that the quotas are met, in accordance with regulations, and improving the quality of recruitment.
Regarding socio-economic development in 2026, localities must continue to review all assigned targets and tasks according to Decision No. 252/QD-UBND; urgently implement growth plans and scenarios in the spirit of "6 clear points," assign specific tasks to each organization and individual, linking them to the responsibility of the head of each organization, as a basis for evaluating implementation results.
Regarding local difficulties and obstacles, provincial departments and agencies are required to promptly consider, respond to, and resolve them within their authority, according to their functions and duties; in cases exceeding their authority, they must promptly report and propose solutions to the Provincial People's Committee. At the same time, localities must proactively work with relevant departments and agencies, without waiting for instructions from the Provincial People's Committee, to avoid delays that could affect the overall progress.

On the occasion of Binh Ngo Lunar New Year 2026, the Provincial People's Committee presented gifts to 9 communes: Binh Giang, Binh Son, Hon Dat, Son Kien, My Thuan, Vinh Binh, Vinh Phong, Vinh Thuan, and Vinh Hoa. At the same time, Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thi Minh Thuy wished the delegates good health, happiness, success, and the excellent completion of all assigned tasks.
