(AG Provincial E-Portal) - On behalf of the National Assembly Standing Committee, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man signed and issued Resolutions of the National Assembly Standing Committee on the arrangement of administrative units for the 2023-2025 period of 12 provinces and centrally run cities.
In Resolution 1285/NQ-UBTVQH15, the National Assembly Standing Committee resolved to arrange commune-level administrative units in An Giang province as follows:
Arrangement of commune-level administrative units of Long Xuyen city: Merging the entire natural area of 1.39 km2 and population of 11,470 people of Dong Xuyen ward and My Xuyen ward. After merging, My Xuyen ward has a natural area of 2.00 km2 and a population of 23,283 people. My Xuyen ward borders My Binh, My Hoa, My Long and My Phuoc wards;
After the arrangement, Long Xuyen city has 12 commune-level administrative units, including: 10 wards and 2 communes.
After the arrangement of commune-level administrative units, An Giang province has 11 district-level administrative units, including: 7 districts, 2 towns and 2 cities; 155 commune-level administrative units, including: 110 communes, 27 wards and 18 townships.
The Resolution takes effect from January 01, 2025.
The National Assembly Standing Committee assigns the Government, the People's Council, the People's Committee of An Giang province and relevant agencies and organizations to be responsible for organizing the implementation of this resolution; arranging and perfecting the apparatus of local agencies and organizations; stabilizing the lives of local people, ensuring the requirements of socio-economic development, national defense and security in the area.
The National Assembly Council for Ethnic Affairs, committees of the National Assembly and the National Assembly Delegation of An Giang province, within the scope of their tasks and powers, shall supervise the implementation of this Resolution./.
