(AG Provincial E-Portal) - On April 4, the Department of Agriculture and Environment of An Giang coordinated with the People's Committee of Chau Phu district to organize the Rice Harvest Festival to participate in the Project "Sustainable development for 1 million hectares of high-quality and low-emission rice cultivation associated with green growth in the Mekong Delta region by 2030" (Project) in 2025. Alternate member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of An Giang province Ho Van Mung attended.





The rice harvest festival took place at the field of farmer Ly Quang Nghi (Binh My commune, Chau Phu district) with an area of 3 hectares. Farmers followed the rice cultivation process of the Project, including: reducing sowing seeds, reducing fertilizer, reducing water... At the same time, they also applied cluster seeders combined with burying fertilizer, used a set of plant protection products of Bayer Vietnam Co., Ltd. and fertilizers of Binh Dien Fertilizer Joint Stock Company, and rice seeds of Vinarice Company.
As a result, the yield from the model field reached 8.25 tons/ha, the profit was 11.28 million/ha higher than the control field.
Speaking at the Festival, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ho Van Mung affirmed that the 1 million hectares of high-quality rice project in An Giang has achieved positive results, with an area of about 1,200 hectares, and 22,000 hectares under the sustainable agricultural development project in 2024. In 2025, An Giang will achieve the goal of having 44,000 hectares participating in the project throughout the province.
Affirming that the organization of the Rice Harvest Festival has a special significance in promoting and encouraging farmers, cooperatives and enterprises to actively participate in the Project, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested departments, branches and localities to focus on promoting and mobilizing more and more farmers to participate in the Project. In particular, it is necessary to clearly state the benefits of farmers when participating in high-quality rice cultivation.
Along with that, it is necessary to increase the mobilization of farmers to reduce emissions by not burning straw in the fields; Research mechanisms and policies to support businesses participating in post-harvest straw treatment.
The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also requested departments, branches and localities to have specific plans associated with the inspection and evaluation of the effectiveness of the Project implementation; Strengthen coordination with enterprises, cooperatives and farmers in implementing the Project; Actively apply science and technology to improve the effectiveness of the Project in the coming time./.
