(AG Provincial E-Portal) - On the afternoon of May 30, the An Giang Department of Education and Training held a conference to recognize exemplary achievements in the education sector for the 2020–2025 period. The event also featured the announcement of a Vietnam Record and the launch of the province’s education data hub.

Present were Mr. Le Van Nung, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the An Giang People’s Council; Ho Van Mung, Alternate Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, and Chairman of the An Giang People’s Committee; Tran Thi Thanh Huong, Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission and Head of the An Giang National Assembly Delegation; Nguyen Thi Minh Thuy, Vice Chairwoman of the An Giang People’s Committee; along with leaders of provincial departments and agencies.

At the conference, the Vietnam Records Organization (VietKings) officially recognized An Giang as the first locality in the country to successfully implement the model: “Each district-level administrative unit has a ‘Niem Su Tu’ monument” — a cultural and spiritual project to honor teachers and promote the tradition of respect for educators and gratitude for predecessors. From 1943 to 2024, 11 monuments have been built across the province’s 11 administrative units.
Since the 6th Provincial Patriotic Emulation Congress in 2020, themed “Solidarity – Creativity – Emulation for Sustainable Development of An Giang”, the education sector has proactively implemented key tasks to enhance emulation movements and the effectiveness of commendation work.
The Department of Education and Training has actively launched emulation campaigns aligned with national and provincial initiatives, including: “Innovation and creativity in education management, teaching, and learning (2020–2025)”; “Public servants promoting a culture of professionalism”; “Building a learning society and promoting lifelong learning (2023–2030)”; “Joining hands in building new-style rural areas”“For the poor – Leaving no one behind”; These efforts have been integrated with the campaign “Studying and following the ideology, morality, and lifestyle of Ho Chi Minh,” with a focus on discovering, fostering, summarizing, and replicating exemplary models.
In implementing the “new-style rural development” movement in tandem with the National Target Program for Socio-Economic Development in Ethnic Minority and Mountainous Areas, the education sector achieved notable results: 80 out of 110 communes met new rural standards; 3 out of 11 districts/towns completed the development mission; and 1 district was recognized as an advanced new rural district. School infrastructure has improved significantly, and the percentage of nationally standardized schools increased from 42.92% in 2020 to 56.17% by early 2025—contributing to educational reform and quality enhancement.
Chairman Ho Van Mung expressed pride in An Giang’s recognition for the “Niem Su Tu” monument model, calling it a vivid symbol of the province’s enduring tradition of honoring teachers and showing gratitude. He also extended warm congratulations to the collectives and individuals recognized for their outstanding contributions during 2020–2025 and acknowledged the tireless efforts of teachers and staff across the education sector in advancing the province’s development.
Given that agriculture accounts for 35% of An Giang’s economic structure, Chairman Ho Van Mung emphasized: “To further develop An Giang, we must promote science, technology, digital transformation, and innovation—where the education sector must lead by example in training a highly skilled workforce that meets the province’s socio-economic development demands.”
Director of the An Giang Department of Education and Training, Ms. Tran Thi Ngoc Diem, launched the 2025–2030 emulation movement, urging the sector to innovate emulation and commendation practices. The goal is to align with Party and State directives on fundamental and comprehensive educational reform, motivating improvements in quality and successful implementation of the 2018 General Education Program. She emphasized the need to widely promote the role of patriotic emulation in the educational reform process, develop transparent and fair criteria tailored to reality, and ensure commendations are awarded accurately. Evaluation should prioritize substantive results, teaching quality, innovative pedagogical methods, and incorporate digital transformation and IT application into teaching and administrative management. She also called for the use of technology in managing emulation and commendation systems.

Also at the conference, the An Giang Department of Education and Training officially launched the provincial education data hub—a centralized and integrated system that connects data on students, teachers, educational management, teaching, and learning from all preschools and general education institutions across the province.
This platform is linked to the national population database. The launch marks a significant milestone in the modernization of education, enhancing management efficiency and contributing to improved training quality.

On this occasion, the Chairman of the An Giang Provincial People’s Committee awarded Certificates of Merit to 3 individuals, and posthumously to 1 individual, in recognition of their contributions to the provincial education sector during the 2020–2025 period. Additionally, 1 collective and 8 individuals were honored for their achievements in literacy promotion and educational inclusion.
The conference also celebrated: 61 outstanding collectives recognized for exemplary performance in the education and training sector during 2020–2025; 50 exemplary individuals honored for their dedication and achievements in the same period./.
