According to the report of Chau Thanh District People's Committee, up to now, 11/11 communes in the district (100%) have been recognized as meeting the standards of new rural communes and the communes have reviewed and improved the quality of new rural commune criteria according to Decision No. 1260/QD-UBND dated June 22, 2022 of An Giang Provincial People's Committee and Decision No. 318/QD-TTg dated March 8, 2022 of the Prime Minister. In addition, the district has 2/2 townlets that have met 9/9 civilized urban criteria according to Decision 4/2022/QD-TTg dated February 18, 2022 of the Prime Minister. At the meeting, members of the Provincial Steering Committee for National Target Programs voted to consider recognizing Chau Thanh district as meeting the standards of new rural districts in 2024, with 32/32 votes in favor, reaching a rate of 100%. 

Concluding the meeting, Vice Chairwoman of An Giang Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thi Minh Thuy requested: Chau Thanh District People's Committee urgently overcome the remaining issues and limitations that the provincial departments and branches have mentioned and urgently complete the central report, related supporting documents, and send them to the Department of Agriculture and Environment for synthesis.At the same time, paying attention to creating environmental landscapes, resolve waste, domestic wastewater, and environmental sanitation at agency headquarters, pay attention to school, cultural, medical, market, and residential area projects.
