Tan Chau: Working on the field of economy and rural development in 2025

(AG Provincial E-Portal) - On March 18, Deputy Head of the Provincial Rural Development Department Nguyen Van Toan led a working delegation to work on the field of economy and rural development in 2025 in Tan Chau town. Vice Chairman of Tan Chau town People's Committee Dang Van Ne received and worked with the delegation.

According to the implementation plan for 2024, the town established 03 new cooperatives in the agricultural sector, bringing the total number of agricultural cooperatives to 21. Up to now, there are 18 agricultural cooperatives operating in the town, including 01 fruit cooperative in Long An commune established in June 2024, the remaining 02 cooperatives including Le Chanh vegetable cooperative and Phu Loc irrigation cooperative which are completing the establishment procedures. Currently, the total number of cooperative members is 2,129 people; the average revenue of agricultural cooperatives is expected to be more than 1,200 million - 1,600 million VND/year; there are 07 cooperatives participating in linking production and consumption of agricultural products with enterprises, signing contracts to consume products for rice and mango. In addition to the cooperatives participating in the Project on sustainable development of 1 million hectares of high-quality and low-emission rice cultivation associated with green growth in the Mekong Delta by 2030 in An Giang, a pilot project of 500 hectares was implemented in the Nam Vinh An and Tan An - Tan Thanh boundary areas.

Regarding rural vocational development, the town has 180 establishments and 590 workers participating. The total number of rural workers supported to learn agricultural skills is 300 people, reaching a rate of more than 90% compared to the same period.

At the meeting, local representatives and provincial departments discussed the new development situation, improving the quality and strengthening cooperatives in the area; difficulties and obstacles in implementing targets and other contents related to the field of cooperative economy and rural development.

In his concluding remarks at the meeting, Deputy Head of the Provincial Rural Development Department Nguyen Van Toan suggested that the locality have a specific roadmap for developing new cooperatives, clearly identifying difficulties in human resources, linkages, and service provision to have specific solutions, and at the same time, encouraging young qualified personnel to participate in cooperative activities, contributing to improving the quality and developing sustainable cooperatives in the coming time.
