(AG Provincial E-Portal) - On September 24th, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of An Giang coordinated with relevant units to organize the Conference on Linking, Promoting and Consuming Fruit Trees in An Giang Province in 2024. Mr. Le Van Thiet, Deputy Director of the Plant Protection Department, Mr. Nguyen Van Muoi, Deputy Secretary General of the Viet Nam Fruit and Vegetable Association, Mrs. Nguyen Thi Minh Thuy, Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Committee, and more than 50 enterprises, cooperative groups, and farmers inside and outside the province attended.
Speaking at the conference, Mrs. Nguyen Thi Minh Thuy, Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Committee, affirmed that the conference was an opportunity for delegates to discuss, propose solutions, remove difficulties and aim to sign cooperation agreements on production and consumption of fruit products in An Giang province. Thereby, contributing to solving output for farmers, increasing the value of fruit trees, aiming at increasingly sustainable agricultural production linkages.
Through the Conference, An Giang hopes that businesses will continue to pay attention to investing in developing fruit material areas; investing in developing pre-processing, processing and packaging fields to increase the value of fruit products, contributing to promoting socio-economic development in localities in the province.
The delegates also discussed, shared and clarified issues related to support policies for granting export growing area codes; needs and policies for linking production and consumption of fruit trees between enterprises and cooperatives; signing a memorandum of understanding between enterprises and cooperatives on coordinating production and consumption of fruit products.…
Currently, the fruit growing area in An Giang province is about 20,000 hectares, with an estimated total annual output of more than 350,000 tons, with key crops including: Mango, banana, longan, citrus fruits, durian, etc. An Giang's agricultural sector has supported the formation of many concentrated fruit growing areas; supported the issuance of 514 domestic growing area codes and exported to markets such as the United States, New Zealand, Australia, Korea, China, etc../.
