(AG Provincial E-Portal) - On the evening of March 19, An Giang province coordinated with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and the Vietnam National Commission for UNESCO to solemnly organize the Ceremony to receive the UNESCO Certificate recognizing the intangible cultural heritage "Sam Mountain Goddess Veneration Festival” as an intangible cultural heritage represented for humanity and the opening of Sam Mountain Goddess Veneration Festival in 2025, at Sam Mountain National Tourist Area, Chau Doc city, An Giang province.

The program lasted 120 minutes, including 90 minutes of live broadcast on VTV Southwest Region (VTV Can Tho); TV stations nationwide. The program consisted of 4 parts. Part I was the UNESCO Certificate Receiving Ceremony (on VTV Can Tho from 8:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.)

The ceremony to receive the UNESCO Certificate recognizing the "Sam Mountain Goddess Veneration Festival" as an Intangible Cultural Heritage represented for Humanity and the opening of the Sam Mountain Goddess Veneration Festival in 2025 is not only a great honor for An Giang province but also a common pride of the whole country, and an opportunity to honor and promote the unique values of the Heritage and the image of An Giang homeland with rich historical and cultural traditions to the people of the whole country and international friends, arousing national pride, raising the sense of responsibility of all levels, sectors and communities in the work of preserving and promoting the values of the cultural heritage of the nation and humanity, contributing to socio-economic development. UNESCO's recognition of the festival as a intangible cultural heritage representative of humanity is a proof to the unique value of a traditional cultural heritage. At the same time, this event also sets out the responsibility for preserving and promoting the value of the “Sam Mountain Goddess Veneration Festival”.

Part III was a cultural program with many special performances, with the participation of People's Artist Bach Tuyet; People's Artist Ta Minh Tam; famous singer Ngoc Son and many other famous singers. The end of the program (part IV) was a low-altitude fireworks display, attracting the attention of the people

On December 04, 2024, the 19th session of the Intergovernmental Committee of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage officially passed a resolution to inscribe the "Sam Mountain Goddess Veneration Festival " into the List of Intangible Cultural Heritage Representative of Humanity. This is a cultural milestone and a source of honor and pride for An Giang Province (the locality assigned to lead the preparation of the Heritage Dossier submitted to UNESCO) in particular, and for the community of Vietnamese ethnic groups in general./.
