Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ho Van Mung surveys the infrastructure connecting the Nui Cam Tourist Area

(AG Provincial E-Portal) - On March 7th, the Provincial People's Committee organized a survey of infrastructure connecting the Nui Cam Tourist Area. The delegation was led by Mr. Ho Van Mung, Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee. Also participating were Mr. Le Van Phuoc, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, and leaders of various provincial departments and agencies.

During the meeting, the People's Committee of Nui Cam commune reported on the tourism development situation in the area and proposed several important infrastructure investment projects to improve connectivity and serve tourism development and the lives of local people. These projects include: Upgrading and expanding the Cong Binh road connecting the Nui Cam tourist area with the car parking area, combined with the construction of a drainage system; investing in the construction of a bridge connecting the Tay Tra Su route across Provincial Road 945; investing in the An Dong (Bac An Lac) road connecting the former Tan Lap area from Provincial Road 945 to the commune center at Provincial Road 948; upgrading and expanding the Latina road connecting Provincial Road 948 with Provincial Road 949.

The local authorities also reported on the adjustment of the tourism area's planning, which involves reorganizing the nine functional zones into five, aiming to concentrate investment resources and develop key sub-zones linked to exploiting the ecological, spiritual, and unique landscape potential of the Nui Cam region.

Speaking at the meeting, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ho Van Mung emphasized that Mount Cam is a key tourist destination of the province, with great potential for developing eco-tourism, cultural tourism, and spiritual tourism. Therefore, investment in connecting transportation infrastructure needs to be planned comprehensively and long-term, ensuring that it both serves tourism development and facilitates the lives and livelihoods of local people.

Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ho Van Mung and his delegation visited the Cam Mount Forest Park Tourist Area for a field survey. According to the report, the Cam Mount Tourist Area is notable for its spiritual and recreational attractions and natural scenic spots, attracting approximately 10 million domestic and international tourists annually. Main attractions include Thuy Liem Lake, Thanh Long Lake, O Tuksa Stream, and Tien Stream; along with cultural and spiritual sites such as Van Linh Pagoda, the Maitreya Buddha Statue, the Big Buddha Pagoda, and various peaks, caves, and temples. 

The tourist area currently has 12 accommodation facilities at the foot of the mountain with a capacity of approximately 800 people and 12 facilities on the mountain with a capacity of approximately 700 people, mainly guesthouses and motels. The Management Board of Cam Mount Tourist Area has closely coordinated with the People's Committee of Nui Cam commune and Chi Lang ward to manage tourism activities, including accommodation, services, and commerce.

Later that afternoon, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ho Van Mung conducted a field survey of several important locations in the area, including: the starting point of Latina Road from Provincial Road 948 to Provincial Road 949; Zone 3 – Thanh Long Lake; Zone 1 – Thuy Liem Lake Center and Zone 2 – Bo Hong Peak in the Cam Mount Tourist Area.

Through the survey, provincial leaders highly appreciated the potential of the landscape and conditions for tourism development in the area, while also noting that the locality needs to focus on preserving the natural landscape, developing tourism in a sustainable direction, linked with improving service quality, and gradually building Cam Mount into an attractive destination of the province and the Mekong Delta region.

Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ho Van Mung suggested that the locality should soon issue a Resolution on the development of the Cam Mount tourist area to provide direction for planning and investment; and at the same time requested relevant departments and agencies to coordinate in reviewing the overall planning of the Cam Mount tourist area.

Accordingly, a thorough assessment of the current infrastructure status should be conducted, priority investment projects should be identified according to a suitable roadmap, and research should be conducted to mobilize various resources to gradually improve the transportation system connecting the tourist area.

Regarding the overall planning, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also noted that the impact on the forest must be minimized; the Management Board of the Cam Mount Tourist Area should strengthen management and prevent spontaneous activities at tourist sites…/.
