(AG Provincial E-Portal) - On the afternoon of November 16, more than 2,000 athletes completed the BIM Group IRONMAN 70.3 Phu Quoc Tournament, successfully achieved the BIM Group IRONMAN 70.3 Phu Quoc Week 2025, with impressive competition moments, reflecting the sustainable development of the triathlon movement in Vietnam.

This year's BIM Group IRONMAN 70.3 Phu Quoc brings together more than 2,000 athletes from 60 countries and territories, creating an exciting race with outstanding professional quality in the region.

The race tracks are designed to international standards, including: 1.9km swimming, 90km cycling and 21.1km running, leading athletes to conquer the beautiful coastal roads of the "pearl island" Phu Quoc.

Favorable competition conditions, enthusiastic cheers from the audience and the determination of each athlete once again affirmed that the "pearl island" Phu Quoc is the ideal destination for the Asian IRONMAN community.Athlete Christian Lam Hien, French nationality, shared: “This is the third time our family has come to Phu Quoc to participate in IRONMAN 70.3, combining it with a sports vacation. I am very happy that my wife and friend achieved good results in this tournament in the team category.”

In the men's category, Kenshin Mizushima (Japan), the 2023 champion, re-established himself as the overall leader, with a time of 04:06:55, extending his winning streak after his victory at IRONMAN 70.3 Da Nang 2025. At the same time, he led both the men's A-List category and the 18-24 age group. Alex Thio (Singapore) came in second, with a time of 04:15:15. Third place in the men's category went to Marcel van Oudtshoorn (Germany), with a result of 04:22:20.

Athlete Ling Er Choo won the women's category

In the women's category, Ling Er Choo (Singapore) successfully defended her title, with a time of 04:48:41, and also led both the A-List women's category and the 35-39 age group. Hannah Gibson (Australia) and Hanh Nguyen (Vietnam) finished second and third, with results of 04:49:54 and 04:50:32, respectively.

Finishing the race in the lead, Kenshin Mizushima shared: “Returning to Phu Quoc after the 2023 victory, I set a higher goal for myself and am very happy to continue to maintain the best performance in this year's season. The cheers of the audience and the professional organization gave me strong energy to break through and complete the race with all my ability.”

In addition to the leading group competitions, the 2025 season is more meaningful when it brings together many influential athletes in the international and Vietnamese endurance sports community. They not only inspire with their competitive spirit, but also contribute to completing the picture of the tournament marking the 10-year journey of IRONMAN with Vietnam.

Mark Allen, the legendary 6-time IRONMAN World Champion, made a surprise return to the track after nearly 30 years of retirement. Appearing in the ocean swim of the relay event, he brought an iconic moment to the IRONMAN community in Vietnam. The presence of a legend like Mark Allen in the “Pearl Island” not only demonstrates the strong attraction of the tournament in the region, but also becomes a special source of motivation for athletes.

The BIM Group IRONMAN 70.3 Phu Quoc 2025 event week has ended with impressive competition moments, reflecting the sustainable development of the triathlon movement in Vietnam. In all activities: Newborns Vietnam Runout, Sunrise Sprint Vietnam, Ironkids Phu Quoc and BIM Group IRONMAN 70.3 Phu Quoc, the number of Vietnamese athletes increased by nearly 25% compared to 2024, marking an important step forward in the journey to expand the domestic endurance sports community.

Deputy Director of the Department of Culture and Sports of An Giang province, Tran Nguyen Ba, shared: “The BIM Group IRONMAN 70.3 Phu Quoc is a typical international sporting event, contributing to promoting the image and affirming the position of the “Pearl Island” on the global tourism and sports map.
