Tourist arrivals in An Giang increased significantly from the beginning of the year

Early in 2025, tourism in An Giang showed positive signs as the number of visitors to tourist attractions and entertainment areas in the province increased compared to the same period last year. Ms. Dao Thu Thanh Thao (a tourist from Binh Duong province) shared: “During the Tet holiday, my family and I visited the Lady Xu Temple on Sam Mountain and some other sites in the province. After many years while returning, I realized that the tourist sites and attractions have actively invested in upgrading their facilities, improving the landscape, and maintaining good environmental hygiene. Although the situation of harassing tourists still occurs, it has significantly decreased.” Mr. Le Phu Thuan (a tourist from Dong Nai province) commented: “An Giang has many unique and distinctive spiritual and ecological tourist spots. I really enjoyed this trip to An Giang, especially learning about the life of the Khmer ethnic minority in Tri Ton and tasting many delicious dishes here. However, the province still lacks high-quality accommodations and large entertainment areas to keep visitors staying longer…”.

Mr. Nguyen Khanh Hiep, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, stated that to make tourism a driving force and an important sector in the socio-economic development strategy, An Giang province will continue to implement programs and plans to create breakthroughs for development. This includes promoting media and tourism promotion activities to attract visitors to An Giang. Specifically, the province will continuously improve and innovate existing tourism products and develop distinctive and potential tourism products that align with the local strengths. Additionally, An Giang will focus on digital transformation in the tourism sector; diversify tourism communication and promotion activities in both content and form; and prioritize the training of human resources for the industry.

The province focuses on developing new tourism products based on resource exploitation, inter-sectoral product integration, and creating products to meet shopping needs, adding value to the tourism industry. It aims to improve the quality of tourism types associated with traditional cultural festivals, beliefs, religions, and ethnicities. Additionally, attention is given to investing in transportation routes that connect tourist areas and attractions within the province, as well as connecting with other localities in the Mekong Delta region, Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, and other areas, to promote sustainable development of tourism in An Giang.

Chairman of the People's Committee of An Giang Province, Mr. Ho Van Mung, emphasized: “An Giang Province is committed to creating the most favorable conditions to invite businesses to invest in high-quality tourism areas, tourist spots, hotels, and resorts, in line with the province's planning and in accordance with legal regulations.

Particularly, we are inviting strategic investors to major tourist destinations to highlight An Giang's tourism sector. In 2025, An Giang Province aims to welcome 10 million tourists. Among them, the number of guests staying in standard hotels, guesthouses, and inns is estimated at 870,000; international tourists are estimated at 27,000; and revenue from tourism activities is estimated at 10,800 billion VND.
