(AG Provincial E-Portal) - As Tet (Lunar New Year) approaches, the festive atmosphere spreads throughout the hamlets, and the flower gardens in Chau Phong commune become bustling with activity. From dawn till dusk, farmers are busy tending to their flowers, pruning branches, fertilizing, and watering, aiming to produce the most beautiful and vibrant blooms for the Tet market.

As one of the large-scale flower growers in the area, this year the family of Uncle Nguyen Van Gom (also known as Mr. Sau Gom) from Phu An B hamlet, has planted around 6,000 square meters of flowers this year, with over 20,000 pots of various types.
From the start of the season, Uncle Sau Gom has carefully selected varieties and planned the planting schedule to ensure the flowers bloom perfectly for Tet. "As usual, I've prepared various types of Tet flowers, including spray chrysanthemum (cuc mam xoi), giant chrysanthemum (cuc dai doa), lisianthus (cat tuong), crystal chrysanthemum (cuc pha le), sunflower, and some other flowers," he says. "The total area is around 6,000 square meters, with over 20,000 pots."

According to Uncle Sau Gom, growing Tet flowers requires diligence and, most importantly, timing. "You have to watch the weather and the days," he says. Flower growers must constantly monitor forecasts and observe plant development to adjust water, fertilizer, and techniques to make the flowers bloom on time.

"The weather's been stable this year, but our chrysanthemums are blooming about a month early. It's not just my farm; many others in the area are experiencing the same thing. The other flowers are doing well, though," Uncle Sau Gom shares.
Despite rising costs and unpredictable weather, farmers in Chau Phong remain committed to their flower farms, optimistic about the Tet market. These days, many flower gardens are already blooming, and growers are taking the opportunity to tend and select the best pots to showcase in the Tet flower markets. "We just hope for a good harvest, good prices, and favorable weather, so we can have a more prosperous Tet," Uncle Sau Gom wishes.
The dedication of flower growers like Uncle Sau Gom shows that each Tet flower pot represents not just economic value, but also hard work, hopes, and wishes for a peaceful, prosperous new year. As trucks carrying flowers leave the farms, spring truly arrives in Chau Phong./.
