Provincial leaders planted trees along the dike route of the Bang Tang Canal (My Thoi Ward, Long Xuyên City)

The event was attended by Mr. Le Van Nung, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Mr. Ho Van Mung, Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; along with leaders from provincial departments, agencies, and Long Xuyen City.

In his speech, President Ho Van Mung affirmed that the "Tree Planting Tet in Eternal Gratitude to President Ho Chi Minh" has become a tradition, a cultural beauty, and a widespread grassroots movement that brings tremendous benefits to the country. Tree planting and afforestation have contributed significantly to protecting and improving the ecological environment, enhancing the landscape, proactively preventing natural disasters, responding to climate change, and playing a crucial role in economic and social development, thereby improving the quality of life for the people.

In An Giang Province, from 2021 to the present, over 13.5 million scattered forestry trees of various types have been planted. In 2024, more than 3.1 million trees were planted, including over 417,000 scattered forestry trees funded by the state budget. In 2025, the province plans to plant about 3.1 million trees. Specifically, at the provincial and district-level launch ceremonies, more than 64,000 trees are expected to be planted during this campaign, marking the beginning of the province's tree-planting season for the year. In Long Xuyen City, approximately 9,375 trees will be planted, including 9,000 Australian acacia trees and 375 pink trumpet trees, covering a length of 1,500 meters. This effort will contribute significantly to the successful implementation of storm and flood prevention measures, protecting agricultural production, safeguarding the environment, promoting economic development, and ensuring national defense and security in the province.

To effectively implement the Prime Minister's Directive 03/CT-TTg on organizing the "Tree Planting Tet in Eternal Gratitude to President Ho Chi Minh" campaign and strengthen forest management, development, and protection, President Ho Van Mung called on all levels of the Party, government organizations, departments, agencies, the Vietnam Fatherland Front, and political-social organizations to actively promote and mobilize the people through various forms of communication, emphasizing the great purpose, significance, and practical benefits of tree planting and forest protection. He urged strict adherence to legal regulations on forest protection and development to contribute to the sustainable preservation of the ecological environment.

In addition, tree planting activities must ensure quality, practicality, and effectiveness, without superficial display, while mobilizing widespread participation from grassroots organizations. It is important to prioritize the selection of native species and multi-functional forest trees, suited to local weather conditions, soil types, and seasonal factors, to ensure high survival rates and healthy growth after planting. The goal is to successfully achieve the objectives of the Prime Minister’s "One Billion Trees" initiative for the 2021-2025 period, as well as the provincial People's Committee's plan./.
