(AG Provincial E-Portal) - Along with the whole country looking towards the beloved border area, on November 9, teachers and students in the border area of An Giang happily welcomed new joy. The People's Committee of An Giang province simultaneously started construction of 3 inter-level boarding schools, following the Politburo's pilot policy of investing in the construction or renovation of 100 inter-level primary and secondary boarding schools in the mainland border communes in 2025.
Vinh Gia Primary - Secondary Boarding School is one of three inter-level boarding schools that have been started to be built in the province. The school was formed on the basis of merging Luong An Tra Primary School "B" and Luong An Tra Secondary School.
In the 2025-2026 school year, the total number of students at two levels is 1,069 (45 ethnic minority students, 32 poor and near-poor students) divided into 31 classes. The project is implemented in the form of new construction combined with renovation and upgrading, with a total estimated investment cost of VND 186,740 billion. The school has a scale of 45 classes, expected to meet the learning needs of 1,500 students.

According to the People's Committee of Vinh Gia Commune, due to the large area and limited travel conditions, many students have to stay at restaurants near the school to rest at noon to continue studying in the afternoon. Some teachers and staff come from other places to work, some as far as 100km away, and have to rent accommodation.
There are currently 9 border schools in the area, with a total of 3,061 students and 232 teachers. The local teaching staff has a high sense of responsibility and rich experience in educating students in difficult and border areas.
However, the education system here is facing many challenges in terms of facilities and limited socialized resources...
Ms. Ngo Thi Cong, a teacher at Luong An Tra Secondary School, has worked in the border commune for many years. Hearing the news that the school was being invested in for a new construction, she and her students were overwhelmed. “I hope and believe that educational innovation will take place more strongly, especially in teaching.
In the near future, the teaching staff will have the conditions to innovate teaching methods, research innovations; have a peaceful place to live and work closer to the students. I also hope that my students will cherish the values they have received so that they can strive to do better in their studies and training,” Ms. Cong shared.

In addition to Vinh Gia commune, there are two other localities in the province that have been selected as locations to build inter-level boarding schools. That is the Giang Thanh Primary - Secondary Boarding School project, with a total area of 4.2 hectares, meeting the learning needs of 1,000 students, including 430 boarding students. The total estimated investment is VND 187.5 billion, of which the central budget is VND 172.15 billion and the provincial budget is VND 14.85 billion.
The remaining project is Khanh An Primary and Secondary Boarding School, investing in building a new block of 9 classrooms. After investing in construction items, it will ensure the scale of 45 classes (including 32 primary classes and 13 secondary classes), with a total of 1,500 students, boarding about 96 students. The total investment is nearly VND 15 billion.
According to the Director of the Department of Education and Training of An Giang province, Tran Quang Bao, the policy of building inter-level boarding schools demonstrates the Party and State's concern for soldiers and people, especially students in border areas. From here, students have a safe, spacious, and modern learning environment to improve the quality of learning and reduce the dropout rate. The province is determined to coordinate closely and promptly with localities so that the project can achieve the fastest progress, ensure quality and put into operation for the unit in the 2026-2027 school year.
At the groundbreaking ceremony for a series of inter-level boarding schools, Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son emphasized that accelerating the construction progress and putting into use effective schools is not only an urgent matter in the short term, but also a strategic task contributing to improving people's knowledge, developing human resources, reducing poverty sustainably and strengthening national solidarity. 100 inter-level boarding schools invested in and built nationwide are projects implemented in the first phase of a total of 248 schools in 248 border communes.
Schools are invested in a large, synchronous, modern scale, meeting simultaneously educational activities, living, training in morality, intelligence, physical and aesthetic skills with the goal of comprehensive development for learners, the system of facilities reaches a high level (level 2 according to current regulations) with some criteria exceeding level 2 such as space, construction area..., which many other high schools in the country have not yet achieved these criteria.
Along with investing in school construction, the Ministry of Education and Training is presiding with ministries and branches to develop documents regulating the regime and policies for students and teachers, regulations on the operating regulations of inter-level boarding schools, preferential policies, recruitment and promotion of teachers, career guidance policies, selection of local staff from inter-level boarding schools and many other synchronous policies, ensuring that the schools are models and great hopes of the Party, State, localities and people of border communes./.
