Deputy Director of the An Giang Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Mr. Nguyen Trung Thanh, attended the conference, which was chaired by Mr. Vo Minh Nang, Vice Chairman of the Cho Moi District People's Committee and Head of the Steering Committee for Ecotourism Development in Cu Lao Gieng.

The region boasts favorable natural conditions, numerous religious and spiritual worship sites, and garden houses, making it well-suited for the development of community-based ecotourism and spiritual tourism. The Provincial People's Council’s tourism development plan for the three Cu Lao Gieng communes has laid the groundwork for progress, and tourism in the area has begun to show promise by attracting more visitors.

However, the overall assessment revealed several limitations. The food and accommodation services remain fragmented and underdeveloped. Other tourism-related services are still lacking, and there are no entertainment or recreational facilities in tourist areas. Moreover, no major projects have been implemented to fully tap into the local potential and advantages.

“To move forward, the locality must vigorously implement the tourism development plan for the three Cu Lao Gieng communes. This includes policy mechanisms to attract and incentivize enterprises to invest in tourism projects, particularly those tied to community-based tourism. It is also essential to reorganize garden tourism sites and historical landmarks,” said Mr. Vo Minh Nang.

On this occasion, the Cho Moi District People’s Committee awarded certificates of merit to eight organizations and eight individuals for their outstanding contributions to tourism development during the 2017–2024 period.
