(AG Provincial E-Portal) - On the afternoon of October 16, Alternate member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of An Giang Provincial People's Committee Ho Van Mung chaired a working session with Long Xuyen city to remove difficulties and obstacles of the locality in implementing the socio-economic tasks in the first 9 months and orienting tasks for the last 3 months of 2024. Also attending were Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thi Minh Thuy, leaders of departments, branches of the province and Long Xuyen city.
Reporting at the meeting, Chairman of Long Xuyen City People's Committee Dinh Van Bao said that in the first 9 months of 2024, the socio-economic situation in Long Xuyen city has maintained a growth rate and tended to increase. The city has achieved 8/10 targets, of which 2 targets have not been achieved compared to the 2024 plan: the rate of schools meeting national standards and universal health insurance.
In the first 9 months, total retail sales of goods increased quite steadily, total retail sales increased by 14.32%; revenue from food and accommodation services increased sharply. Industry and construction had a fairly good growth rate, agriculture maintained a growth rate compared to the same period.
The total budget revenue of the city is VND 834,112 billion, reaching 73.41% of the provincial estimate and 69.98% of the city's estimate. Long Xuyen city has listed 91 projects in the 2024 public investment plan from the city's budget, with a total allocated capital of VND 222,509 billion. Thereby, the disbursement has reached 51% of the plan. Up to now, the city has completed site clearance for 7 projects; established compensation plans for 9 projects...
Besides the outstanding results, Long Xuyen city still has difficulties and limitations; The socio-economic infrastructure system is still lacking and degraded; the locality still has 9 criteria that have not met the standards of a type I urban area. In addition, the city's current budget revenue is not enough to carry out the tasks of spending on development investment and regular expenditure; site clearance and progress of some projects are slower than required; administrative reform has not met the requirements and satisfaction of people and businesses; the situation of security, order and social safety is still complicated at times and in places.
At the meeting, the city leaders proposed and recommended many contents in the fields of economy; urban management and development - construction investment. Typically, they proposed to guide the process and procedures for localities to deploy calling for investment projects; support investment in the remaining connecting routes to the City bypass; mobilize capital to invest in completing the wastewater treatment system in 6 wards and communes. At the same time, they proposed that the provincial budget supports capital and the medium-term public investment portfolio for the period 2026 - 2030 for 17 projects, with a total capital of more than VND 1,400 billion. In particular, priority is proposed to give to the Residential Area project serving the arrangement of resettlement land for key projects of the province and Long Xuyen city; It is recommended that the province continue to mobilize resources from the central budget to invest in anti-erosion embankments at 6 sections (Cai San canal, Nam Su canal, My Thuan hamlet - My Khanh commune; Binh Duc 4 hamlet - Binh Duc ward; Pho Ba islet - My Hoa Hung commune).
Thereby, leaders of provincial departments and branches exchanged and informed about the recommendations of Long Xuyen city; advised on orientations and removed difficulties and obstacles of the locality in implementing socio-economic tasks in the first months of the year, directions and tasks from now until the end of 2024.
