(AG Provincial E-Portal) - On October 15, 2024, at the Provincial Hall, An Giang Provincial People's Committee organized the 2024 Digital Transformation Workshop under the theme: "Universalization of Digital Infrastructure and Creative Digital Applications for Developing the Digital Economy - A New Driving Force for Economic Growth and Labor Productivity."
The workshop was attended by several notable officials, including Mr. Ho Van Mung, Alternate Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, and Chairman of the People's Committee of An Giang Province; Mr. Le Van Phuoc, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Colonel Lam Phuoc Nguyen, Director of the Provincial Police; Ms. Ha Minh Trang, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of An Giang Province; along with representatives from various departments, agencies, and branches. The event also welcomed the People's Committees from districts, towns, and cities, members of the provincial and district digital transformation steering committees, mass organizations, and representatives from digital technology enterprises both inside and outside the province.
Vice Chairman Le Van Phuoc delivered the opening speech, emphasizing that An Giang regards digital transformation as a key task that drives development, creates new value, and improves the quality of life for its residents. Over recent years, digital transformation in An Giang has played an increasingly significant role in socio-economic development. It has enhanced the management, direction, and operations of the government, making these processes more efficient, transparent, and time-saving. The quality of public services has improved, and citizens can now easily access information via the Internet, allowing them to quickly search for information, study online, stay updated on current events, and share knowledge more conveniently.
In the first nine months of 2024, digital transformation activities in An Giang achieved notable success. The province ranked 6th out of 63 provinces and cities for its set of indicators measuring management efficiency and public service quality, receiving a "Good" rating. Additionally, 100% of public services are now available online, and high-speed fiber optic Internet reaches every commune, ward, and township in the province. Broadband mobile Internet covers all hamlets, enabling easy access to services and information. Furthermore, 100% of businesses in the province now use e-invoices, and cashless payment methods are increasingly being adopted in localities, hospitals, and schools. All 11 districts, towns, and cities in the province have also implemented campaigns led by Community Digital Technology Teams, helping guide residents in acquiring basic digital skills.
Despite these achievements, several challenges remain. Awareness of the importance of digital transformation is still inconsistent across different units. Resources for digital transformation are limited, and the rapid evolution of digital technologies, particularly Artificial Intelligence (AI) and information security issues, presents significant difficulties and challenges.
Within the framework of the Workshop, the workshop featured exhibition booths showcasing products, solutions, and application models from digital technology, infrastructure, and post-telecommunications companies, both within and outside the province. These booths highlighted innovations in digital data, infrastructure, and AI.
At the workshop, the experts’ presentations and discussions focused on finding solutions and strategies to advance the province’s digital transformation in the future.
In the closing remarks, Mr. Le Quoc Cuong, Director of the Department of Information and Communications of An Giang Province, highlighted the significance of the workshop. He praised the presentations for showcasing experiences and digital transformation models that benefit both businesses and the public. He affirmed that the workshop demonstrated the widespread spirit of National Digital Transformation Day and the commitment of all levels of leadership, businesses, and residents in An Giang Province.
Mr Le Quoc Cuong called upon all agencies, businesses, and residents to continue uniting in the development of digital infrastructure, creation of digital applications, and acceleration of digital transformation in the province. He emphasized the importance of developing a clear and feasible plan for implementing the Government's and Prime Minister’s directives on accelerating digital transformation and digital infrastructure development, as well as the solutions proposed during the workshop.
