Strengthening Trade Promotion for OCOP Products

(AG Provincial E-Portal) - To ensure sustainable development and enhance the value of OCOP (One Commune One Product) products, An Giang province has actively boosted trade promotion efforts to bring these products to consumers, with a focus on exports.

Recently, the Provincial Trade and Investment Promotion Center has proactively carried out trade promotion activities, especially for OCOP products, to introduce and highlight the province's specialty and key products. Specifically, in 2023, the center partnered with TikTok Technology Vietnam Co. Ltd. to launch an Agricultural Product Market on the TikTok platform and implemented livestream sales solutions for 10 businesses in the province. A delegation was also organized to visit and collaborate with the OCOP Center of 63 provinces and cities in Phu Tho and the Agricultural Trade Promotion Center, under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development in Hanoi. This collaboration is aimed at coordinating future trade promotion activities, starting with a conference to connect and promote the consumption of OCOP products from An Giang, alongside livestream events on TikTok.

In 2024, the Provincial Trade and Investment Promotion Center will continue working with the Agricultural Trade Promotion Center and TikTok Technology Vietnam Co. Ltd. to successfully organize a program aimed at promoting and introducing products via TikTok. The program, scheduled for June 28-30, 2024, includes a notable livestream session on June 30, featuring 12 content creators who will introduce 125 products from 22 OCOP enterprises. The event attracted 31.6 million views and 17,800 orders, generating more than 3 billion VND in revenue. Among the top-selling products were ST25 Shrimp Field Rice, Jaggery Nectar, and Jaggery Sugar. This success set a new record for both An Giang and agricultural markets across the TikTok Shop platform, which has been active nationwide for over a year.

Additionally, the Provincial Trade and Investment Promotion Center collaborated with the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Department of Industry and Trade, and the Provincial New Rural Construction Coordination Office to organize programs promoting OCOP products, potential products moving toward OCOP certification, and start-up products. These programs were held in Long Xuyen City, Chau Doc City, Tinh Bien Town, Tan Chau Town, Chau Thanh District, and Chau Phu District, showcasing over 120 booths from OCOP participants and potential OCOP enterprises in the province. This series of events aimed to create a spotlight for OCOP products, providing a meaningful platform for businesses to connect with consumers. Surveys were also conducted to link OCOP products and provincial specialties to supermarkets and tourism business locations both within and outside the province.

Furthermore, the Provincial Trade and Investment Promotion Center maintains regular updates and promotional activities on its website (http://atpic.angiang.gov.vn) and social media pages, such as Facebook (facebook.com/angiangtourism). Between 2023 and 2024, the center posted over 446 news articles online. In addition, it supported 19 provincial businesses in selling products on the Shopee e-commerce platform. Working with the Department of Information and Communications, the center also featured 88 OCOP products on the province’s OCOP product webpage for further promotion. The center continuously updates a database on its Fanpage, sharing information about preferential policies and support available to businesses investing in An Giang, particularly in agriculture. These efforts demonstrate innovation in supporting businesses, especially OCOP entities, in product development, market connections, and the promotion of An Giang's strengths in culture, tourism, and economic potential.

In April 2024, Kim Xuyen's yarn products were awarded a 3-star OCOP certification by the OCOP Product Evaluation and Classification Council of Cho Moi District, boosting the product’s brand recognition and market potential. "Since being recognized as an OCOP product, my business has gained numerous opportunities for promotion and trade, with more customers becoming aware of the product. This has also led to increased prices and more stable demand," shared Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Xuyen, the owner of the Kim Xuyen yarn business.

Similarly, Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Loan, owner of Kim Loan Snakehead Dried Fish business in Cho Moi District, stated, "After being recognized as an OCOP product, our business received support from provincial and local authorities, especially in promoting and selling through e-commerce platforms and social networks, making the product more widely known. We also continually improve packaging and product quality to meet consumer preferences and build trust."

With the comprehensive implementation of various trade promotion strategies, the province has provided local enterprises and OCOP businesses opportunities to engage with both domestic and international exporters. While the involvement of authorities is crucial, OCOP participants must also take an active role in commercial activities by exchanging experiences, learning market trends, and promoting their products. These actions create opportunities for expanding markets and increasing the consumption of OCOP products.
