(AG Provincial E-Portal) - On the morning of June 25, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the An Giang Provincial Party Committee, and Head of the Steering Committee for the Elimination of Temporary and Dilapidated Housing in An Giang Province, Mr. Le Hong Quang, together with Alternate Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, and Standing Deputy Head of the Steering Committee, Ho Van Mung, co-chaired the summary conference for the program.

In a report on the program's results, Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee and Vice Chairman of the An Giang Provincial People's Committee, Mr. Le Van Phuoc, stated that the province has successfully met 100% of its targets for building and repairing homes for people with meritorious service to the revolution, as well as poor and near-poor households, completing 3,135 out of 3,135 homes. Of these, 464 homes were for people with meritorious service, and 2,671 homes were for poor and near-poor households—601 under national target programs, and 2,070 under the province’s housing campaign. The total funding for the program exceeded VND 207.2 billion, drawn from state budget allocations, social contributions, and household participation.
In addition, local steering committees helped build or repair 225 homes for other disadvantaged households, with total support of over VND 11.2 billion mobilized from social contributions and more than 15,297 volunteer labor days. The province essentially completed the program two months ahead of the Government’s deadline.
In his directive speech, Secretary Le Hong Quang praised the responsibility and collaboration of localities, departments, armed forces, businesses, philanthropists, and the public in achieving the program’s goals. He noted that the initiative provided not just physical shelter but also emotional encouragement and hope for thousands of families striving for stable livelihoods and sustainable poverty alleviation.
“The success of this program is not only reflected in its numbers, but more importantly, in the proactive, creative, and flexible implementation by Party committees, local authorities, departments, sectors, and communities. It embodies the spirit of responsibility and compassion, creating a strong foundation for An Giang to continue its long-term social welfare and poverty reduction strategies,” said Mr. Le Hong Quang.
While celebrating early completion, the province emphasized that this campaign is only one step in a longer journey. Ensuring all citizens have stable, safe housing is a fundamental condition for social security, long-term poverty alleviation, and socio-economic development. In the near future, An Giang will continue to review and update the list of households in housing difficulty to provide timely and effective support.
To achieve this goal, Secretary Le Hong Quang urged Party committees, local governments, and the Vietnam Fatherland Front to continue raising public awareness, building social consensus, and caring for the physical and spiritual lives of citizens—especially those with meritorious service, the poor, the vulnerable, and those facing hardship—ensuring no one is left behind.
He also called for the comprehensive and effective implementation of preferential policies for those with meritorious service and sustainable poverty reduction policies. For households already supported through the program, local authorities were encouraged to promote self-reliance, raise awareness, and provide vocational guidance, job placement, and access to credit so residents can stabilize their lives and escape poverty.
