(AG Provincial E-Portal) - On November 28, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of An Giang province, Tran Thanh Hiep, and members of the working delegation, inspected the implementation results of the Project on One million hectares of high-quality and low-emission rice cultivation associated with green growth in 2024 and the 2025 Plan in Cho Moi district. The delegation was received by Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Cho Moi district, Le Tran Minh Hieu.
According to the province's plan, the District People's Committee has deployed the Project to agencies, organizations and People's Committees of communes with raw material areas to participate in the implementation; Issued a Decision to establish the Steering Committee and a Working Group to support the implementation of the Plan in the district and directed the specialized agency to synthesize the needs for registering support models for rice cultivators in 2025. Accordingly, in the Autumn-Winter crop of 2024, Cho Moi district has implemented 100 hectares in sub-region 4, Nhon My commune. By November 25, 2024, the area in this model has been harvested, with a yield of 6.16 tons/ha and Ngoc Phu Rice Company Limited purchased an area of 50 hectares in the model and 14 hectares outside the model, at a price of 7,100 VND/kg.
In addition, specialized sectors, localities and the Community Agricultural Extension Team of communes in the region participating in the Project implementation organized 10 training courses to propagate technical processes for producing high-quality and low-emission rice in the Mekong Delta in communes of the district, with a total of 300 farmers attending.
In 2025, the district will continue to implement the Project with an area of 745 hectares, based on the area of locations where cultivators are implementing programs such as 3 reductions - 3 increases, 1 must - 5 reductions, locations implementing the model according to Decree 62 of the Government and it will be expanded in favorable locations with sufficient conditions for implementation. It is expected that the Winter-Spring crop of 2024-2025 will be implemented with an area of 20 hectares in Long Kien commune.
Receiving the direction of the Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of the province, in the coming time, Vice Chairman of the District People's Committee Le Tran Minh Hieu requested specialized sectors and People's Committees of communes to strengthen propaganda and mobilization work for agencies, industries, unions, specialized sectors and farmers on the contents of the Project; ensure the contents of sustainable farming, production organization and targets in the Project's plan; communes must review and re-evaluate sub-regions to develop a plan to implement the Project and develop a flood discharge plan for 2025; develop a list of irrigation works, sluices and reservoirs in 2025 for the district to survey and serve production; consolidate and improve the quality of cooperation in localities; implement models from the source of rice land protection according to Decree 112 of the Government and organize training courses on contents related to the Project; Launch an emulation movement in implementing the Project on One million hectares of high-quality and low-emission rice cultivation associated with green growth and new rural construction.
