Speaking at the meeting, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ngo Cong Thuc emphasized that in 2024, An Giang achieved and exceeded 13/15 targets set by the Provincial People's Council Resolution. The economic growth rate (GRDP) is estimated at 7.16%. The economic structure has shifted positively, with strong sectors such as agriculture, trade, and tourism continuing to achieve good results. Culture, education, people's health care, and social security have received regular attention, significantly improving in quality. Social order and safety, national defense, security, and border work have been ensured. The exercise of the defense area of An Giang province and 04 district-level localities in 2024 has been well implemented. In particular, the Festival of Ba Chua Xu in Sam Mountain recognized by UNESCO as an intangible cultural heritage of humanity is a great honor and pride for the Party Committee, government, and people of An Giang. At the same time, in 2024, An Giang also successfully organized many important events such as Chau Doc Bridge Inauguration Ceremony; Conference on Introducing Investment Potential and Promoting Typical Products of An Giang Province, held in Ho Chi Minh City; Mekong Connect Forum 2024, etc.
The above achievements, in addition to the efforts of the provincial political system, also have the active support and accompaniment of press agencies, journalists and reporters on the information and propaganda front. Press agencies have made constant efforts to provide accurate, timely and complete information, thereby creating consensus among the people. Through articles, reports and television programs, the press has helped people better understand the policies and guidelines of the Party and State, and at the same time reflected the thoughts and aspirations of the people to leaders at all levels. Thanks to the contribution of the press, the image and development potential of An Giang province have been widely spread, creating favorable conditions for attracting investment and socio-economic development. 2025, the last year of the term, the tasks set are very large, both "accelerating and breaking through", focusing on striving to successfully implement the socio-economic development goals of the entire term 2020-2025. At the same time, it is a year with many important events in the country: 95 years of the Party's founding (February 3, 1930 - February 3, 2025); 135 years of the birth of beloved Uncle Ho (May 19, 1890 - May 19, 2025); 50 years of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025); 80 years of the founding of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, and actually the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025); it is also the year of holding Party Congresses at all levels, towards the 14th National Party Congress, entering a new era - the era of national development.
