The government organised a conference to encourage agricultural sector digitalization

(AG Provincial E-Portal) - Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang, and Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Le Minh Hoan presided over the symposium "Promoting the Digitalization of the Agricultural Sector" in a nationwide online format on the afternoon of May 14. Ms. Nguyen Thi Minh Thuy, vice chairman of the provincial people's committee of An Giang, presided over the conference at the An Giang Bridge.

During the conference, both delegates and experts conducted an evaluation of the present state and obstacles associated with digitalization and the implementation of digital technology in the agricultural sector. Additionally, they shared and exchanged practical models, experiences, and proposed solutions that pertain to the digitalization of agriculture. Concurrently, put forth numerous pressing concerns to the government and ministries, including the advancement and direction of the legal framework's early development in order to facilitate investment programmes and projects, as well as the implementation and development of novel digital technologies. With an emphasis on bringing the market to fish ponds, orchards, and fields, as well as advancing smart agriculture, digital craft villages, the efficient utilization of residential data, agricultural digital platforms, and agricultural e-commerce channels.

The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development will further advance smart agricultural models in An Giang province in 2024. This will be achieved through the implementation of digital technology in agricultural production and the promotion of rural development among cooperatives, farmers, and enterprises through high-tech agricultural initiatives such as the New Rural Construction Program.

Execute additional responsibilities in accordance with the objectives, work programs, and provincial departments of each unit, in coordination with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and provincial departments. These responsibilities pertain to the following domains: traceability; issuance of planting area codes; data on agricultural cooperatives; databases on irrigation; data on new rural construction plans; and OCOP product management.  VNPT An Giang, in collaboration with the Department of Information and Communications, put forth a proposal to execute the "Building database software on plant harmful organisms" project. This proposal entails the establishment of a pest assessment platform specifically designed for plants in An Giang, with the intention of exchanging insights and knowledge in order to facilitate replications across the nation.

Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang acknowledged the preliminary outcomes of digital transformation in the agricultural sector that had transpired thus far during his remarks at the conclusion of the conference.  The Deputy Prime Minister requested that the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development finalize the agricultural digital transformation institution as soon as possible. Create optimal conditions for businesses and farmers by advocating for administrative procedure reform and developing industry databases that are comprehensive, comprehensible, and easily accessible.  Priority is given by relevant ministries and sectors to the development of digitalization infrastructure, with state management agencies of agriculture and rural development constructing a digital government. Sustain implementation in accordance with the annual and phased plan to expedite the transition from an emphasis on agricultural production to an emphasis on agricultural economics.

In addition, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang requested that the Ministries of Information and Communications and Agriculture and Rural Development solicit the perspectives of conference attendees and specialists in order to plan and coordinate the subsequent successful implementation of digital transformation in the agricultural sector.
