Thanks to the unity and determination of the political system, the people, and the business community, An Giang’s socio-economic situation in May and the first five months of 2025 continued to show strong, positive growth across multiple sectors, contributing significantly toward the province’s 2025 development goals. Social security and welfare efforts continued effectively and on time. Responding to the campaign “Joining hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated housing in An Giang by 2025”, the province has completed 100% of the planned 3,135 homes (2,655 newly built and 480 renovated). As of June 2, 3,121 homes had been completed and put into use. Healthcare services were strengthened, and investment promotion efforts were accelerated. The province also strictly implemented anti-corruption, thrift, and anti-waste regulations while maintaining national defense and public security.
In his directive remarks at the meeting, Chairman of the An Giang Provincial People’s Committee, Ho Van Mung, commended the efforts of departments, agencies, and localities in fulfilling their assigned tasks, thereby contributing to the province’s economic growth. He urged all relevant entities to focus on implementing the resolutions of the Politburo and the plans set forth by the Provincial Party Committee.
He also called for the prompt and effective execution of measures to boost economic growth in the second quarter and the last six months of 2025, in line with the province’s ambitious target of achieving a 10% growth rate. Sectors that have yet to meet their growth targets must urgently adopt decisive and comprehensive solutions to reach the set goals.
The Department of Science and Technology was directed to coordinate with other relevant departments and agencies to promptly and concretely implement Politburo Resolution 57-NQ/TW. Priority should be given to accelerating digital transformation in the healthcare and education sectors, as well as promoting the application of artificial intelligence (AI) to create breakthroughs in administrative management and improve work quality and efficiency. The development of e-government systems at all levels must also be completed.
Departments, agencies, and localities were instructed to expedite the implementation of key programs and public investment disbursement. Particular attention must be given to regularly monitoring and accelerating the progress of the Chau Doc – Can Tho – Soc Trang Expressway project (passing through An Giang Province) and other provincial key projects.
Heads of localities and units are fully responsible, in their leadership roles, for any failure to meet public investment disbursement targets as scheduled. The province aims to exceed 100% of the state budget investment disbursement plan assigned by the Prime Minister.
Chairman of the An Giang Provincial People’s Committee, Ho Van Mung, instructed all departments, agencies, and local authorities to place strong emphasis on administrative procedure reform—streamlining business conditions, and making substantial progress in the provision of public services. The goal is to reduce inconvenience, time, and costs for citizens and businesses.
He directed relevant units to proactively review and resolve difficulties and bottlenecks in project implementation across the province. Support must be maximized for business and production activities, within the bounds of the law, to contribute to an improved and comprehensive investment and business environment that fosters investor attraction.
In parallel, efforts must focus on planning and adjusting master plans. The Chairman called for strengthened inspection and supervision of mineral exploitation activities, in conjunction with erosion control, and the protection of natural resources and the environment. He emphasized the resolute fight against corruption, wastefulness, misconduct, and vested interest groups, with strict handling of violations related to the illegal exploitation, transportation, and trade of resources (land, sand, stone, forests, etc.).
The Department of Agriculture and Environment was tasked with leading and coordinating with relevant agencies to promptly review and propose effective solutions for solid waste management.
Chairman Ho Van Mung also urged departments, agencies, and localities to continue timely and focused communication of the Party’s and State’s guidelines, policies, and laws to the people. Particular attention should be given to: promoting awareness on the streamlining and restructuring of the administrative apparatus, the planned mergers at provincial and commune levels (while retaining the current district level), the preparation of the UNESCO nomination dossier for the Oc Eo – Ba The Archaeological Site, the organization of the 2025 National High School Graduation Exam, and disease prevention and control efforts.
At the same time, Chairman Ho Van Mung stressed the urgent and effective implementation of the Politburo's directive on streamlining and restructuring the administrative apparatus. He assigned the Department of Home Affairs to coordinate with relevant departments and localities to advise the Provincial People’s Committee on the implementation of the project for reorganizing commune-level administrative units—ensuring it follows the planned timeline and meets the practical needs of the province.
The Department of Finance, in coordination with the Department of Construction and local governments, was tasked with reviewing public assets (such as government vehicles and office buildings) across agencies, and developing rational plans for their reallocation during the administrative unit merger process. This must be done under tight management to avoid violations or waste.
He also emphasized the continued and serious implementation of the Law and guiding documents, along with conclusions and directives from the Politburo, Secretariat, and the Prime Minister on anti-corruption, anti-waste, and combating vested interests. The Chairman called for intensified efforts in handling complaints and denunciations, and promoting citizen reception and dialogue.
Furthermore, the province must effectively implement measures to ensure political security, social order and safety, and traffic safety. He called for strengthened efforts against smuggling, trade fraud, and counterfeit goods.
He also underscored the need to enhance state management of beliefs and religions, to promptly prevent and strictly handle acts of exploiting religion or belief for personal gain or superstition. Religious organizations and institutions should be guided to strictly comply with legal regulations.
Lastly, the Office of the Provincial People’s Committee was tasked with coordinating with relevant departments and sectors to thoroughly prepare content for the 2025 meetings of the Provincial People’s Council—starting with the timely completion of documentation for the upcoming special session scheduled for June 2025.
