(AG Provincial E-Portal) - The Agricultural Extension @ Agriculture Forum, which was organized by the An Giang Department of Agriculture and Rural Development in collaboration with the National Agricultural Extension Center, was held on the morning of October 8 under the theme "Application of digital transformation in agriculture." The event was presided over by Mr. Doan Van Chien, Head of the Standing Office of the South-National Agricultural Extension Center, and Mr. Ton That Thinh, Deputy Director of the An Giang Department of Agriculture and Rural Development. Over 160 delegates from provincial departments, departments, branches, unions, localities, businesses, cooperatives, and farmers attended.
Deputy Director of An Giang Department of Agriculture and Rural Development Ton That Thinh underscored the potential for agricultural economic development in An Giang, particularly in the areas of rice, pangasius fillets for export, vegetables, and fruit trees, during his opening remarks at the forum. An Giang farmers possess a wealth of practical experience in farming and the application of technological advancements to production, as they control over 80% of agricultural land (equivalent to 297,000 hectares) and over 65% of the rural labor population.
At present, digital technology is experiencing significant growth, particularly in the agricultural sector. In order to enhance the efficiency, quality, and productivity of agricultural production, digital transformation is not only an inevitable trend but also an urgent necessity. Specifically, the implementation of emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT), big data, and blockchain (Blockchain), facilitates the optimization of production processes, enhances product quality, and reduces costs. The forum is an important event that helps farmers understand the content and benefits of applying digital technology in agriculture, as well as solutions and policies to develop the application of digital technology in production, marking a new milestone in the development of ecological agriculture, a modern countryside, and civilized farmers.
The forum was a platform for delegates to hear from experts, scientists, and businesses from both within and outside the province as they shared their experiences, knowledge, and specific solutions regarding digital transformation in agriculture. Simultaneously, exchange, discuss, share experiences, and stay informed about the most recent developments in the field of digital transformation in agriculture. Consequently, it is important to identify innovative and practical solutions to the development of sustainable, modern, efficient, and intelligent agriculture.
