During the conference, Vice Chairman of the Provincial Confederation of Labor Nguyen Huu Giang provided a concise overview of the conditions of workers in the province and the activities of the trade union organization from the beginning of the year to the present. Simultaneously, the information regarding the content of the responses provided by functional agencies and units to inquiries regarding the Draft Law on Trade Unions (amended) in the thematic voter contact conference between provincial National Assembly deputies and workers on May 10, 2024.
The Provincial National Assembly Delegation reported the results of the 7th session of the 15th National Assembly. Additionally, the opinions of union members and employees regarding the content of the Draft Law on Trade Unions (amended) and the Draft Law on Employment (amended) were listened to and elucidated.
The National Assembly is expected to consider regulating an appropriate payroll management mechanism in the Law on Trade Unions (amended), increasing the initiative of trade unions in arranging trade union cadres, and meeting the requirements of tasks in the new situation. Trade union members and employees hope that this will be taken into account. Simultaneously, maintain the provision in the Law on Trade Unions that specifies the source of revenue for 2% of trade union funds. Additionally, examine the regulations regarding enterprises that fail to pay or delay in paying trade union dues.
Additionally, numerous employees proposed that the unemployment benefit be raised from 60% to 75%, which is equivalent to the maximum pension entitlement. This would establish conditions that would enable employees to maintain a minimum standard of living in the event of job loss or unemployment, as well as restrict the withdrawal of one-time social insurance. Additionally, policies should be implemented to assist low-income workers in purchasing social housing.
The opinions expressed at the conference were addressed by representatives of departments and branches. Simultaneously, the Provincial National Assembly Delegation documented and consolidated the opinions and recommendations of voters that were submitted to the National Assembly.
The Provincial National Assembly Delegation presented gifts to 100 voters, union members, and employees for this occasion, with each gift valued at 1 million VND.
